Museum opening for Santos exhibit
T h e M useum at W arm
Springs held a well attended
opening o f the exhibit “Indig
enous Elements: The Life &
A rt o f A p o lo n ia S usana
Santos,” which will be show
ing until Sept. 15.
Santos was an activist,
painter, sculptor, serigrapher,
and writer who left a legacy
o f creative vision for the in
digenous world.
The Santos family was in
attendance, including mother
Lena Tewee Santos who had
never seen some o f the paint
ings displayed in the exhibit.
Santos’ paintings and seri-
graphs often contain the dra
matic and diverse landscape
and sky o f the High Desert.
Snowstorms and the elements
o f wind, water, sun and moon
appear with vigor.
