ously neglected and under
served by incum bent tele
com m unications providers
for many years, leaving more
than one-third o f the popu
lation without basic telephone
serv ice a n d v ery lim ited
broadband or even basic dial
up Internet access.”

The enterprise was made

through $5.6 million in fund
ing from the Ainerican Re
covery and Reinvestment Act.
The

Telecom opened its offices in
th e o ld ap p a re l b u ild in g ,
which was completely rem od
eled and equipped w ith state-
of-the-art telecommunication
equipment.
The Telecom now serves
close to 300 customers on the
reservation, some w ho pre
viously had no telephone ser
vice, much less Internet.
