O ne o f the schools he at tended was hosted by the Pro fessional Rodeo Cowboy As sociation. Marcel has accomplished his goal and w on his first buckle at the St. Paul Rodeo, rid in g a ju n io r bull. T h e buckles th at w ere donated for Junior Events were from Ross Coleman’s father. A t the Linn County Fair recently, Marcel expanded his horizons and rode his first bareback pony, “Smoke” was its nam e. M arcel w on the bareback event with the score o f 85 p o in ts , ta k in g th e Championship buckle. This m o n th M arcel will celebrating his 13th birthday. H e still loves to Grass Dance, in which he is also a cham pion. H e also loves to ride his dirt bike and o f course skate boarding. H is m o th e r is D esiree Allen, who takes him to all o f his rodeos. His grampa Toba S co tt has m ade his riding ro p e s fo r steers and now bulls. His gram m a Carmela S cott make his first chaps, w hich g o t to rn o ff o f him several’ tim es, and gram pa Toba had to stitch them back up. His auntie Sisiley bought him an awesome pair o f cow boy boots that he sports. The family is proud o f his accom plishments. Regional Finals will be com ing up at P hilom ath soon. Marcel also thanks D elford Johnson and family for help ing him out in the beginning o f all his efforts. A u g u s t 8, 2012 MAC Dash turning 5 T h e M AC D a sh is turning five this year. The Fifth Annual event will be held on Saturday, Septem ber 8. T his year’s event in cludes a sprint triathlon and the kid’s Mini MAC Dash. All events will be cen tered at the M adras Aquatic Center. This is a volunteer-organized com m unity event w ith p ro ceeds benefitting the Ma d ras A q u a tic C e n te r’s youth programming. Registration prices will increase on A ugust 11. Triathlon registration will close Saturday, Sept. 1 at 11:59 p.m. T here is no race day registration. Both mail-in and on-line registration are available. There will also be registra tion forms available at the M adras A quatic Center. Triathlon participation will be limited to 250 individu- als/teams. Yakama to host powwow, recovery campout T he Yakama N ation will host the Tenth Annual Pow wow and Recovery Campout on Friday, Saturday and Sun day, Sept. 7-9. The campout is called Tim na-Piix (Sober Heart). O n Friday the pow wow hours are from 7-11 p.m.; and Saturday from 6-11 p.m. The p o w w o w is h e ld a t th e Toppenish Community Cen ter. The Recovery C ampout is Friday-Sunday, Sept, 7-9, at the Yakama RV, 280 Buster Rd., Tbppdriish.
