started receiving their shares
o f a $1 billion settlem ent w ith
the U.S. governm ent over m is­
m anagem ent o f their m oney
and tru st lands, while others
are w aiting an d rem ain u n d e­
cided on w hat to do w ith their
windfall.
T h e a g re e m e n t b e tw ee n
the g ov ernm ent and 44 tribes
a c ro ss th e n a tio n w as a n ­
n o u n c ed in M arch to settle
claims o f m oney lo st in m is­
m anaged accounts and royal­
ties fro m n a tu ra l re so u rc e
