T hat was 25 years ago. I got involved. H e knew th at I could play the d ru m ... but he d id n ’t know th a t I tau g h t myself to play the flute when I was younger.” Twenty-seven years ago, Foster decided to change his life direction towards a more positive course. “Everything became alco hol and drug free,” he says. “We now try to stay away from negativity, which makes H eH e the p e rfe c t setting. T here are veterans w ho at tend our healing circle and they need peace. Some o f them were broken inside, but each year they get a lithe bit better.” A t th e G a th e rin g o f Flutes, held last weekend at H eH e, participants focus on the spiritual aspects o f life. “Last year we had 38 flute p lay ers,” K alam a said. “ P e o p le are co m in g in , June 13, 2012 Father’s Day Brunch will be served in the Cottonwood R estaurant a t Indian H ead Casino on Sunday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The brunch will be $15 for adults, $7.50 for ages 5 to 10 and 4 under are free. Reser vations are not needed. A Father’s Day dinner spe cial featuring a 1-lb. tybone steak with baked potato and ro asted vegetables will be served beginning at 5 p.m. for $25. This way, people can enjoy each other.” J ’Deanne Kalama, Foster’s wife, has becom e involved cooking for the event along with the couple’s children. D u rin g th e first year, about 100 people attended. “That grew to around 150 the seco n d year,” F o ster says. “Right now, we have around 80 people here. Music is a pow erful tool, spiritually.” . Foster hopes that the gath ering serves as a tool to help keep c u ltu re alive. “I ’m thankful th a t people còme from all over to help. I pray that our people will come to gether to help support each other, as well. We all need work. We all need to help each other. Beaded Tapestries at Museum T he M useum at Warm Springs will present Warm Springs Beaded Tapestries, June 21-Sept. 16. This exhibit will feature beautifully beaded regalia and adornm ent o f all styles ■with colorful patterns o f beads from the museum’s perm anent collection. This is a chance to view one o f a kind works, each telling its own story. T he m useum will kick o ff the w onderful exhibit w ith a T raditional H orse Parade and opening recep tion on Thursday, June 21, from 4 30-7:30 p.m. Thé museum is inviting riders to participate in the parade. Participants m ust arrive at th é m useum no later than 4:30 on June 21 to line up at the far end o f the museum parking lot. Walkers and all veterans are welcome.
