A t b irth Isley w eighed 5 pounds 4 ounces and measured 17 inches in length. G randparents On m o th er’s side are LaVena Ike and Ronald Thomas. All the kids received a prize to take home, and any adult whose name was not called in the drawing was able to pick a prize too. The purpose for this crew is to su p p le m e n t th e local firefig h tin g crew s at W arm Springs Agency in the event o f fires o ccu rrin g here locally. Large-fire occurrence has been m ore prevalent in the last 10 years and the near future out look remains at a high potential for re-occurrence. O ur local fire season usually begins in July and runs through September. I f we get enough eligible individuals interested in participating in this program, we will be offering the basic fire training for any individual 18 years old and up to be available for the 2012 fire season. There are National Require ments that each individual will be required to meet before they are certified to go out on the fire line. Fire crew requirem ents are as follows: Pass the arduous three-mile walk with a 45-pound pack un der 45 minutes. (The participant must pass this test before they can take the basic fire courses.) Pass S-130, S-190, 1-100, L- 180 courses. A ttend the full week o f train ing w ithout missing any part o f the courses being presented in order to receive credit for all re quired courses. Pass drug test. Stay physically fit throughout the fire season. H av e a reliab le p a ir o f vibram sole boots before report ing for fire duty. We are planning on present ing the classroom portion o f this process during the m o n th o f May. We will get the announce m ent out to the public once we establish the agenda. Individuals w ho are in ter ested in participating in this pro gram are encouraged to start some type o f physical fitness p ro g ra m b e fo re tak in g th e three-mile pack test. Each indi vidual will only get to do the pack test two times in one fire season. We will be doing the pack test through the m onth o f April ; dates to be printed in the m onth o f M arch e d itio n s o f th e Spilyay Individuals interested in par ticipating in this program will need to call Luther Clements at the Fire Management D epart- m en t befo re M arch 16.
