Timber sale assessment released The Resource Management Interdisciplinary Team has just released a draft project assess ment for public review. The draft document provides an en vironm ental analysis o f the 2014 Pinhead Butte Timber Sale. The Resource Management Interdisciplinary Team (RMIDT) also approved small project assessments for a fuels reduction project near Sidwalter Butte and for Casey G reen Vending, which will include food concessions and fishing tackle sales near Sherars Falls. The 2014 timber sale docu m ent was prepared by the Project Interdisciplinary Team to provide options for timber harvest in the U pper Warm Springs watershed. Two alternatives were formu lated and numerous logging methods were considered for this project, taking into account present resource conditions, for est health and public input. The 2014 Pinhead Butte sale is expected to yield approxi mately 38 million board feet of timber. The document is divided into sections explaining the purpose and need for action, resource- based indicators used to help the technical staff analyze and miti gate environmental impacts, and details of the alternatives. There are maps showing the harvest blocks, quick reference tables to compare the alterna tives, a list of measures needed to mitigate environmental con sequences, and the Project In terdisciplinary Team’s recom mended alternative. The goal of Alternative A is to continue current manage- ment. Activities such as hunting, recreation and cultural food gathering would continue as in the past. The only harvest pro posed under A lternative A would be through conventional salvage operations. Alternative B is designed to harvest volume approximating the allowable cut for this planning area. The 2014 sale would include a treatment area of 2,045 acres. The alternatives would have varying impacts on water, fish, wildlife, cultural, timber, range, soil and economic resources and there would also be changes to the transportation system. . For more information or cop ies of the document contact Bill Fish or Ryan Singleton in the Forestry D epartm ent. Tribal members have 30 days to com ment on the proposed sale. u rin ili The New Indian Head Casino on Hwy 26 in Warm Springs Lucky 7 Cash Prize Drawings > Wednesdays for $277 at 8 ,9 & 10pm > Sun., March 11 for $277 at 8 ,9 & 10pm > Fri., March 16 for $277 at 10 & 11 pm, $777 at midnight & lam > Fri., March 23 for $277 at 10 & 11pm, $777 at midnight & lam ----------------------------- 4.----------------------- March Bonus Points on the Club Card > 2x slot points on Mondays > 3x slot points on Sun., March 11,6-1 lpm > 7x slot points on Sat., March 17 Early Bird 3-11 am $ 1000 Slot and Blackjack Tournaments > Slot Tourney Sun., March 18 at 1 pm $25 buy-in > Blackjack Tourney Fri., March 23 at 7pm $25 buy-in OSCAR'S EXPERT AUTO REPAIR Complete Service Foreign & Domestic C H R YSLER COTTONWOOD > The Cottonwood Restaurant is open daily, restaurant Sun.-Thurs., 7am-9pm and Fri. & Sat., 7am-10pm > Lunch Buffet served daily from 11 am-2:30pm > Dinner Buffet served Fri & Sat beginning at 5pm > Sunday brunch from 9am-3pm Go to indianheadgaming.com for more!
