I said of course!” The library was nominated by Brad Smith of Paulina Springs Books, with a second by Oregon author Jane Kirkpatrick. Earlier this month, Craig and his staff—William Rhoan, Rose m ary Lew is and v o lu n teer C heryl A rch er— traveled to Portland to accept the 2011 Michael Pritikin Rural Library Project award. “They have all the big-name publishers who are showcasing their new books,” Graham said. “They put together boxes of books they were willing to do nate to the rural library recipi ent.” The award means a total of Duran Bobb/Spilyay The library staff (l-r) Rosemary Lewis, William Rhoan, and Craig Graham are delighted with the many titles included in a recent award to the library. an estim ated 40 boxes o f books, or 3,000 titles. “These are new books,” he said. “Some are from w ell- known authors, some are the classics which are being repub lished. But who’s complaining?” Gra ham said. “This donation will al- most double the size of our col lection. Folks can expect to see the books hitting the shelves in the next couple of months. A good number of the titles will go into the Book Mobile.” The library website is up and running at: wshbrary.folletdestiny.com. “People can search by key word, author, subject. Just type it in. They’re able to see every thing we have.” Currently, the library holds about 3,400 titles. There are 374 library card holders. 234 books are checked out. Sixty books are overdue. “Once a person checks out a book, it ’s good for three weeks. Late charges are 10 cents per day, and once they reach $5.00 we suspend their privileges.
