Kah-Nee-Ta will host the
White Buffalo Basketball Clas­
sic golf tournament on Satur­
day, August 27.
T his is a fo ur-person
scramble tournament, shotgun
start at 1 p.m. Entry fee $50 a
person. Entry includes green
fees, carts, three kp’s and two
long-putts.
Mulligans buy three for $5.
Putting string: $5 each. Two per
team. One string per 9 holes.
All proceeds go towards a
basketball tournament in Phoe­
nix, Arizona after Christmas.

Performers with the Northwest Tibetan Cultural Association sang their version of “This Land is Your Land” in
the Tibetan language. One of the goals of the NWTCA is to ensure that Tibetan youth in North America acquire
a working knowledge Tibetanese. The group performs throughout the Northwest to spread awareness of
their native lifestyle.
The Traditional Arts Appren­
ticeship Program supports the
sharing of traditional arts be­
tween a mentor and an appren­
tice. These traditional arts are
defined as those artistic practices
that have a com m unity base
and express that community’s
heritage.
This includes such commu­
nities as ethnic, tribal, occupa­
tional, regional and religious
groups.
The skills are usually learned
informally and passed on from
one generation to the next by
observation and imitation.
Among the many traditional
folk arts of Oregon are: Native
A m erican basket w eaving,
Southeast Asian dance, Mexi-
can -A m erican em broidery,
A m ericana fiddling, African-
American gospel singing, saddle
making and rawhide braiding for
working cowboys, and North­
west logger poetry.
