Yazzie Memorial Award.
“These two were chosen out
o f the m any w ho co ach ,”
Edison Yazzie said. “They pro
vide answers that kids are look
ing for in this world. They let
the kids know, there’s a world
out there, get out o f Warm
Springs and see what the rest of
the world looks like.”

as a gesture of thanks for all
that they do,” said Edison. “ You
can see them out there doing
bake sales and gobs o f other
things for basketball.”
Rosa Graybael won the sec
ond award. “She coached many
different youth activities from
middle school to grade school
to high school,” he said. ‘Y ou
can see her at the different
p la c e s— W ash in gto n , Reno,
wherever she’s needed.”

Recipients are chosen based
on what they give to the youth
in all Warm Springs sports. “It’s
not just money, but the time and
effort that they give to kids can
mean so much to everybody.
It’s unselfish devotion.”
Next year’s recipient will be
chosen based on nominations.
Edison says, “Teri and Amanda
Squiem phen are u su ally the
ones who have the difficult task
of choosing one recipient. But
next year we’re going to let the
community nominate, because
as I see it there are so many
folks out there who give so
much of themselves.”

The people who participated
in the M o ving M o un tains
weight-loss challenge lost a total
of 1,250.9 pounds. Participants
lost an average of 12.64 pounds
each.
O f the 238 p eo p le w ho
started the challenge, 99 (42
percen t) fin ish ed . F ourteen
women’s teams entered and six
finished. Sixteen mixed teams
entered and eight finished.
The first-place team for the
women was team Ju st Do It!

The top mixed team was In

pounds, and won $971.25.
