Pdge 8 January 26, 2011 Spilyay Tymoo, Warm Springs, Oregon Births Howlak Tichum Paul Roderick Miller, 1989-2011 Paul Roderick Miller, resi dent o f W arm Sp rin gs, passed away on January 15, 2011, as the result of a car accident. He was 21. Paul was born on August 31, 1989 in Madras to Ro- maine Miller Sr and Alexan dria Henry. Paul was a life tim e resid en t o f W arm Springs, as well as an enrolled m ember o f the Confeder ated Tribes of Warm Springs. He w o rk ed w ith the W arm Springs Fire Camp crew, with Work Force De velopment, and most recently in w e ath eriz a tio n w ith Workforce Development. He earned his GED on April 16, 2010 in Warm Springs. He was Baptized in 1999 at the W arm Sp rin gs Shaker Church. He is survived by parents Ro- maine Miller Sr., of Bend, and A lexandria Henry, of W arm Springs; and Leah H enry o f W arm Springs, who raised him; brothers D elvis G eorge, C h arles Scott, B ruce M iller, Ro- maine Miller Jr., all of Warm S p rin gs; Step h en and Jeremiah Miller, both of Kla m ath F a lls; and sister Theyliah Suppah of Warm Springs. Dressing ceremonies were held Ja n u a ry 19 at the Agency Longhouse. Burial was held Thursday, January 20 at Low er Seekseequa Cemetery. monsters. M arlen a’s sisters are: Priscilla Frank, Myrna Frank, A nnette A rce, Carol Para, Lillian Cuevas. Her brothers are: Delbert Frank Jr. and Charles Frank. Marlena was preceded in death by her father, Delbert F rank Sr., and her son, Armando Fidel Becerra. Services were held at the Warm Springs Shaker Church on January 14, with her burial at the Simnasho Cemetery the following day. Agnes Arthur, 1959-2011 Agnes Arthur passed away and a mother. Mrs. Arthur was at her home in Warm Springs a lifetim e resident o f W arm on January 12, 2011. She Springs. was 51 years old. She is survived by her hus Mrs. Arthur was born on band, K endrick A rthur; her O cto b er 3, 1959 in brothers Stacey and D aniel Redmond to parents Gale Lawrence; her sisters Valerie and M arilyn (D ick) . Gordon of Madras are pleased to announce the birth of a boy, Benicio Wyatt Alonso, born Jan. 8, 2011. Paternal grandparents are Pedro Alonso of Warm Springs. Carla May Wainanwit Charlie Stan Wainanwit and Antoinette Wainanwit, both of Warm Springs, are pleased to announce the birth of a girl, Carla May Wainanwit, on Jan. 13. She joins two brothers, ages 7 and 8. Alexia Castillo A lberto C astillo and M argarita Gutierrez, both of Culver, are pleased to announce the birth of a girl, Alexia Castillo, born on Jan. 11, 2011. She joins two brothers, ages 5 and 8. Paternal grandparents are N abor C astillo and M aria M acias, o f M exico, D.F. Maternal grandparent is Trinidad Gutierrez. G reat-grand parents are Narciso Gutierrez and Antonia Famirez. Howlak Tichum M arlena M. Becerra “L ip atk ”, 1954-2011 Marlena was born on De cember 5,1954 in Redmond, O regon to her p aren ts, D elbert Frank and Cecilia McKinley. She passed away at St. Charles in Bend on January 11, 2011 at the age of 56. Her Indian name was “Lipatk”, inherited from her grandmother on her father’s side. She lived most of her life in Warm Springs, having also lived a short time in Mexico. Marlena enjoyed listening to music, watching movies and reading. In the past, she also en joyed painting ceramics, pick ing xamsi and working with flowers. She knew many sto ries of the traditional legends of Sasquatch, Atatatlia, Stick Indians, Uluts and the lake Brielle Eorna Wheeler Valerie P. Wheeler of Warm Springs is pleased to announce the birth of a girl, Brielle Lorna Wheeler, born Jan. 6, 2011. M aternal grandparents are Kim W heeler and Marlon A. LeClaire. Elena Eorraine Isabell Hart Aaron Hart and Melinda Billy are pleased to announce the birth of a girl, Elena Lorraine Isabell Hart on Dec. 2, 2010 at the St. Charles Hospital in Redmond. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Danni Lawrence. Dressing ceremonies were held Ja n u a ry 13 at the A gency Longhouse. Her burial was on January 14, 2011 at the Agency Cem etery. M ernie C. Polk, 1946-2011 Springs and Madras. She was employed as a sec retary for the Warm Springs Tribes. Mrs. Polk is survived by her children: Angela Wells, MartiRai Ramsey and Cecilia LeClaire. Her brother is Je ff Sanders, and her sister is Jo Ann Bryant of M ernie C. Polk passed away at St. Charles in Bend on January 11,2011. She was 64. Mrs. Polk was born on Ju n e 11, 1946 in W arm Springs to Martin and Edna (Smith) Sanders. She was a lifetime resident of Warm Warm Springs. Mernie has seven grand children and 2 great-grand children. Dressing ceremonies were held on January 13 at the A gency Longhouse. H er burial was January 14 at the Agency Cemetery. LaVonne Kay Blakely, 1945-2011 LaV onne B lak ely w as born on March 16, 1945 to Freddy and Grace Jochims in Scotland, SD. She passed away on January 12, 2011 at her home. Services were held in Madras on January 22 . Mrs. Blakely moved to Newberg when she was 11, where she graduated from high school. She then be came a licensed beautician. In 1965 she married Gary and moved to Seattle. She had two daughters, Tuania and Pattricia. LaVonne moved to Ma dras in 1975, w here she drove the Warm Springs school bus before becoming a teacher’s aid at Warm Springs Elementary. She spent many years with the ch ild ren , a ssistin g Ms. F uentes, Ms. R odin, Ms. Oppenhiemer and more. She was baptized in 1961. After retiring in 2004, she volunteered in the church. LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her chil dren: T aunia B lakely and Pattricia Keller; her grand children Je ssic a D ubisar, Rebecca D ubisar, Tanner Keller, and Kori Keller; her sisters, D o rothy S u llen s, Sandra Filbert and Phyllis Lundy.
