Lincoln’s Powwow Special honors sisters

The Simnasho community
will host the Thirty-Third An­
nual Lincoln’s Birthday Powwow
on Feb. 12-14 at the Simnasho
Longhouse.
One o f the Specials this year
will be the Women’s (Old Style)
H ighstep War D ance, sh o rt
fringe shell dress.
This will be in memory of
the three Q uehpam a sisters
(atwai), N ettie, M atilda and
Sylvia, and Fern Q ueahpam a
Begay. This Special was Fern’s
idea before she passed on. It is
now sp o n so red by N o ren e
Queahpama Greene and Anna
Queahpama Clements.
Fundraising efforts are by
raffle ticket sales for all events.
Please supp o rt the Powwow
Queen candidates by purchas­
ing tickets. The candidates are
Rianna Wolfe, Lupita Tohet and
Meleah Collins.
