T h a n k you to th o se w ho bought me out during my fund raising. Thank you to all those who gave their blessings, well wishes, good luck, and financial help for the trip. A special thank you and ap preciation to all my cousins in Kansas for their help. Thank you Robert Jr. and my son Caleb for encouraging me. I would also like to give a big th a n k you to m y g ra n d p a G eorge Aguilar Sr. for always being there. H e made all these dreams come true. As w ith Alysia Aguilar, my cousin, who also w ent down to help me out. I love you all! G ran d p a G eorge Sr. w ent with us. He gave a Powerpoint presentation on the subject o f our people, the Eastern Kiksht Chinookan speakers o f the Co lumbia River at the Haskell Cul tural Center in Lawrence, K an sas. A t th is e v e n t th e N ativ e American People o f Tulsa were ecstatic about having contestants coming all the way from Warm Springs to participate in the World Championship Frybread Cook-Off. It was cool to meet these new people, and I believe they felt the same. Being from a different part o f the nation, much interest was focused on our presence and we were snowed under with the at tention. We were invited to attend their Tulsa Powwow in January. We do plan on going to Okla hom a and Kansas m ore often. T hat’s how welcomed we felt. Thank you again to everyone who helped me. Jasm ine Caldera. He knows our every need. Although we do n o t ask for it, he’ll often intercede. H e gave two girls a special bond quite early in their lives, and though they were just little girls th eir fu tu re h eld m uch strife. Each girl was a young woman soon. Their choices sometimes wrong. The m en would always come and go. N one lasted very long. W ith all the drugs and al cohol, so prevalent today, those little girls were overcome. They surely lost their way. N ow G o d knew that the time was right. To one he gave the call. She heard his voice and did respond. H e caught her from her fall. She was so thankful to our Lord for giving her new life, an end to drugs and alcohol that brought her so m uch strife. H er th o u g h ts w ere o f her long-lost friend. H ow much they once did share. A nd though her life was really good, she wished her friend was there. She knew th at G o d w ould hear her voice, so she began to pray. She asked if H e would call her friend and change her life that way. A miracle then came to pass. H er friend did hear his call. She knew that she had had enough o f drugs and alcohol. N o w m an y m o n th s have passed on by. H er friend was on her way. Success is now her way o f life. She thanks the Lord each day. I am sorry I broke tribal law on A ugust 2009 by breaking tribal fishing laws. I was unaware. o f my actions and knowing now o f my wrongful act, I apologize and it shall never happen again. This is a terrible mistake for w hich I would like to offer my sincere apology.. I understand the le thality o f the offenses comm it ted. In another move, this m onth the people o f the reservation are doing their part in the quest for unity through concensus. O u r devotion was separate from money. A nd our people invited the hungry o f that age to our feasts at Celilo Falls, re fusing any sort o f payment ex cept friendship. That’s a big posi tive. T h at is a heritage for all the reservation to be proud of. “I call upon all Americans,” the p resid en t said, “to com m em orate this m onth with ap propriate programs and activi ties, and to celebrate N ovem ber 27, 2009, as Native Ameri can Heritage Day.” T hat’s the day after Thanks giving. A nd it seems like an ap propriate day for Indians every where to celebrate their heritage. H appy Turkey Day, every body!
