R euben Paul “ C hip” Santos passed away on Oc tober 16, 2009. He was 27. Mr. Santos was a deco rated U.S. Army veteran, hav ing served from 2000 to 2008. He received NATO m edals for service in Kosovo, Kuwait and Jordan. He received the N ational Defense Medal for his ser vice in Iraq. G one to o soon, Mr. Santos is the cherished son of Ruben and Paula Santos. He is the grandson o f Lena Santos. He was the loving brother o f Donovan, Bran don, Ian and Kierin Santos. He was the brother in law of Makani and proud uncle of Sedona Santos. He was the adored nephew and admired cousin to so many. He will be missed by Waci, Chloe, Mike, Isaac, Jasmine, and a multitude o f others. Mr. Santos was a member o f the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. He was a creative writing major at the Institute of American Indian A rts in Santa Fe, N ew Mexico. He was a published writer in 2008, and screen writer of “Game of Cham pions” in 2008. He was an actor in other Institute of American Indian Arts films. His intelligence, political and literary insight, wit, humor, love o f nature and computer games speak of his paradoxical person ality. His beautiful smile and hugs have touched us deeply and he will remain in our hearts for ever. Mr. Santos lived with dignity and integrity; he struggled to survive war yet sadly succumbed to Post Traumatic Stress Disor der Syndrome. O f his loving relations, Mr. Santos was the adored son of Ruben and Paula Santos. Dearly loved grandson o f Lena Santos. Admired brother of Donovan, Brandon, Ian and Kierin Santos; brother-in-law o Makani DeSilva Santos; uncle o f Sedona Santos. Godson of Debra Burton and Rick Santos. Loving nephew of Juanita (Gary) Villa, Irene Jimenez, Rick (Sue) and A lb ert (Brenda) Santos, T eresa Howe, Tom (June), Richard (Linda) and Patrick (Maria) Smart, Darla (Paul) Burgess and Debra (John) Burton. R espected cousin o f Jasm in Bantilan-Laforga, Buddy, Loren and Richie D enny, G ary Villa Jr., Donetta Squiemphen, Victor Smith Jr., Aaron Vasquez, A shley Jim enez, Rachel Villegas, Alyssa Holifena, Janelle Santos, Albert, Isaac, Joel and Anthony Santos, Bobby, Carl and John Howe, Debbie and Tommy Smart, Don, Ron and Steve Burgess, Shari Plummer, Brian Smart and Buffy Hardin, Cristina Itskovitz and Vanessa Smart and many second cousins. Dearest friend o f Waci Lonehill. Friend to many others. A lbert D ean Bryant Jr. passed away at his home on October 30, 2009 at the age o f 48. Albert was born on July 2, 1961 in Fort Defiance, Arizona to Albert Sr. and Laura (Teller) Bryant. A lbert came to W arm Springs in 1975 and was em ployed as carpenter for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. He was a member o f the Na vajo Indian Tribe. He married Arlene (Wewa) Bryant. Albert is survived by his wife, A rlene o f W arm Springs; daughter Kimberly Bryant of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son Leonard Jim of Warm Springs; step-daughter Erica Wewa of Warm Springs; sister Mehssa Bryant o f Warm Springs; brothers Alburn Bryant of Kayenta, Ariz., and Alvin Bryant o f Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
