Girl Scouts To th e w o m en in W arm Springs w ho would like to lead a Girl Scout Troop for girls on the reservation, I am still search ing fo r d edicated w om en to share the incredible Girl Scout program. Troops need at least two non- related, non-sam e h ousehold volunteer adults to lead them. T h e leaders g et to decide what ages they would like to lead: K indergarten-first grader D ai sies; second-third grader Brown ies; fourth-fifth grade Juniors; six th -eig h th grade C adettes; ninth-tenth grade Seniors; and eleventh-twelfth grade Ambas sadors. T he leaders g et to decide where, w hat day and how often the troops meet. Troops usually m eet once a w eek o r twice a month. We p ro v id e w o n d e rfu l trainings for the leaders. The lead ers g e t to m e e t o n ce a m o n th w ith o ther leaders for su pport and learning. It takes time and commitment, but this could be the m ost valuable and rewarding experience you have in your life. The G irl Scout program is open to ev ery g irl everywhere. But we need volun teer leaders to make it happen. O ur mission is to build girls o f co u rag e, co n fid en ce and character who make the world a better place. I have seen the success o f the G irl Scout program over and over in the lives o f girls. I guess that’s why I am so pas sionate about making the p ro gram available to all girls. The girls on the reservation deserve this awesome opportu nity b ut it takes you to make it happen. I ’m hoping you will hear my plea and step up and start a troop for girls. The benefits are tre mendous. Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you. P e g g y L o v e g r e n , G irl Scouts o f O re g o n and S.W. Ancient cedars all around me, green mosses lay below, laying like a velvet carpet, how the sunlight made it glow. W ater rushing through the boulders, just like centuries be fore, never changing were its b o u n d a rie s, en d less was its mighty roar. I felt inside an ancient world, no blemishes from man, it was as G od created it, truly awesome was this land.
