Twenty-five years ago this week
There were nearly 1,200
Indian tribal leaders and rep
resentatives gathered for the
fortieth convention o f the
N ational Congress o f the
American Indians, held this
year in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
A tribute to late Chief
Amos' Simtustus was a por
tion o f the first session, as
members o f the Rules and
Credentials Committee gave
a brief history o f the work
done by Simtustus with that
committee.
He was dependable, will
ing, loyal to his duties, and
often committee members
looked to him for wisdom. In

But unlike her mother and

Tanning hides, though, is
her specialty.
