Pi-Ta Pitt has graduated from Columbia University in N ew
York City.
Pitt earned a Bachelor o f A rts degree in Economics. Pitt,
28, is the son o f Louie Pitt and Nancy Pitt.
Pi-Ta said the course w ork at Columbia was m ore diffi
cult than he at first expected. B ut he kept working and gradu
ated this spring. His family and family friends attended the
graduation in N ew York.
Pitt said he is happy to be back in O regon, although, he
said, living in N ew York was a great experience.
Pitt, who worked summers at W arm Springs N atural Re
sources, started his post-high school education at Portland
Community College, where he earned an Associates Degree.
H e then transferred to Columbia. “I wanted to go som e
where big and different,” he said.
H e said he may in the future pursue graduate school edu
cation. “B ut for now,” he said, “I ’m going to work for a while
