school-age children.
“I f all the homeless children
in Central O regon were gath
ered together, they would fill a
dozen school buses. Everyone,
especially children, deserve an
o p p o rtu n ity to su cce e d in
school and in life, and that is tied
,to having a stable home. To sue-,
ceed, you need a place to call
home,” says Jim Schell,^execu

P roject Homeless Connect is
currently seeking professionals
— particularly doctors, dentists
and their sta ff — to provide
physical and mental health care
services to guests. In addition,
organizers are seeking volun
teers to greet guests, provide
translation services, give haircuts
and perform dozens o f other
important jobs. :

and in-kind donations from lo*
cal businesses and community

event is a best practice model
designed to make a lasting dif
ference for those who partici
pate,” she says.

and has been replicated in nu

Mrs. Oscar was a homemaker
