Page 6 June 22 Spílyay TyiDoo Pi- Ume-Sha R oad Warriors R un is June 24 The Warm Springs Recre ation Department is sponsoring the 2006 P i-U m e-Sha Road Warriors Run. The run begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 24. Runners gather at the park ing lot o f the adm inistration building. Race registration is held in the building starting at 7 a.m., and both Pi-Ume-Sha races be- gin at 8 a.m. sharp. The course is out and back, all on blacktop pavement. Wa ter stations are located at the 1.5 mile marker and the 3.1 mile marker. There are seven age cat egories for both the male and female divisions. The age cat egories are: 13 and under, 14- 18, 19-29, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over. Ribbons are given to the top three finishing runners in all age categories. There will also be a door prize and raffle for which each registered runner is eligible. Pre-registration with t-shirt: $12 (before June 23). Day of race registration is also available. CIS TIRES Beamer Memorial run marks 10th anniversary T he T enth A n n u al Todd Beamer Independence Day Run will be held this year in Madras on Tuesday, Ju ly 4 at Sahalee Park. The events will consist of a 10k run, a two-mile fun run/ walk “dog and me,” as well as the six-mile walk. The six-m ile w alkers w ill meet at the park with a start time of 7 a.m. The 10k runners will also meet at the park by 7:15 a.m. and will be bussed to the starting point at 7:30 a.m. with a start time of 8 a.m. The two- m ile fun run/w alk “dog and me” will start at 9 a.m. All participants in the races can pick up an entry form at the The Footzone in Bend, or at the Madras Pioneer newspa per. Sign-ups will also be held the morning of the event. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded. The entry fee is $20 including t-shirt or $5 without a t-shirt. T he even t honors Todd E vans B eam er, a M adras scholar/athlete who drowned with his four dogs in 1997. The event funds a spirit scholarship that honors the popular coach and teacher. T he M adras Fourth of July parade starts at 11 a.m. Gathering to share views on community health care The M ountain View Com m unity H ealth Im provem ent Partnership invites area residents to a public meeting this evening, T h u rsd ay, Ju n e 28 at the Jefferson County Senior Center at 860 S.W. M adison St., M a dras. The meeting is titled, “Health for All 2006,” and is sponsored by the Mountain View Commu nity Health Improvement Part nership. The meeting will help all of those organizations and people involved with providing health care to better understand what area residents think about local health care, and what they expect in terms of quality and services. The event is one part o f a larger community health assess ment being conducted by the Community Health Im prove ment Partnership. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. All area resi dents are in v ited to attend. S n acks, refresh m en ts and childcare are provided. The purpose of the meeting is to get area residents to work together in one session to gen- erate a list of changes or activi ties that would make the area a healthier place to live in. “It will be a different kind of public meeting from any you have ever attended before,” said Beth Ann Beamer, community coordinator for the Community Health Improvement Partner ship. “We’ll use a unique, enjoy able process.
