The 110 tribal athletes will also have an opportunity to meet current and prospective sponsors that will assist Team Oregon in their venture to the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG). The games will be held in Denver, Colorado the first week of July. The group of tribal athletes will compete in archery, baseball, basketball, boxing, golf, rifle shooting and wrestling. “The five basketball teams are the largest portion of the group. We are excited to have this many young tribal people involved in the games,” said Su san Guerin, NAIG coordinator for Team Oregon. A silent auction will take place during the evening event, which lasts from 5 to 7 p.m. Beamon also contributed items to the silent auction in cluding some Olympic and pro fessional sport pieces, according to Guerin. “We hope to raise enough money for the young athletes to help them with lodging and en trance fees to the event,” she said.
