Spily^y Tymoo, Warm Springs, Oregon Corps of Discovery at museum in April B irths Trinity Rose Danzuka, the daughter of Kenneth R. Danzuka and Ashlynn C. Sohappy, both of Madras, was born Thursday, March 16, 2006, at 8:46 a.m. Trinity weighed 7 pounds, 0 Vz ounces, and 21 inches long, when she was born. Trinity’s grandparents on her father’s side are Willard Tewee of Warm Springs and Crystal Danzuka of Washington, and her grandparents on her mother’s side are Victor Sohappy and Lana Jack. Rico Dave Stevenson Perez-Greene, the son of Myrna “Paul Lee” Greene, was born at 8:55 a.m., at Mountain View Hospital in Madras Saturday, March 18. Rico was 6 pounds, 0 ounces, and 19 inches long, at birth. Rico has five brothers and sisters, including brother Quinton, 7, and sisters Lupe’, 6, Adrianna, 4, and Levina, 20 months. His mother’s parents are the late Perry L. Greene, and the late Verbena T. Greene. Rigo Medrano Jr., the son of Rigo Medrano and Eliza Kalama of Madras, was born at 6:30 p.m., at Mountain View Hospital in Madras Monday, March 20. Rigo was 8 pounds, 9 ounces and 21 inches long at birth. Rigo has one brother, Tyrone Ray. His maternal grand parents are Edmond Kalama and Lillie Van Pelt, and his paternal grandparents are Jose and Maria Jimenez. His great grandparents are Eliza and Harvey Jim of Warm Springs. Hotshots playing at MHS gym The Central Oregon Hotshots of the International Basketball League, whose high flying, high-scoring action has been playing in the Bend and Redmond area since the team’s first season last year, have planned to bring a home game to the Madras High School gym. The Hotshots host the Se attle Mountaineers Fri., April 7, at the MHS gym. The game starts at 7:15 p.m. “Madras and Warm Springs are areas that love great basket ball, but they do not always have the chance to drive to Bend to catch the games,” Hotshots coach J.J. Anderson said. “We decided it would be valuable to bring the game to the spirited fans there.” The Hotshots, who have been playing at Summit High in Bend this season, recently scored an IBL-record 57 points in the first period of a 158-137 win over the Vancouver Volca Page 7 March 30, 2006 noes. The Hotshots include two local products in 6-7 Alex Carlson from Culver, who played collegiately at Oregon Tech, and Prineville’s Ryan McCarthy, a 6-3 shooting guard who played at Northwest Nazarene. The game at Madras High is a fundraiser for White Buffalo athletics, as 25 percent of the gate receipts go to the school. In addition to the game itself, Hotshots players host a youth clinic at 4 p.m., before the game, for players in grades 1-8. En rollment for the clinic is $15 and includes a ticket to the game. The Corps of Discovery II history exhibition will be at the Museum at Warm Springs Sat urday, April 22, through Wednesday, April 26. The exhibition features his tory of the region from the time of the Lewis and Clark expedi tion, which happened 200 years ago. The central feature of Corps of Discovery II is the “Tent of Many Voices.” This 150-seat auditorium is a venue for cul tural arts demonstrations, folk lore, music, living history pre sentations, readings from the expedition journals and more. Programs reflect a spectrum of nature, culture and history topics. The Indian tribes that the Lewis and Clark encountered are featured. In addition to the w alk through exhibit, Corps of Dis covery II has a 25-foot keelboat replica, a 16-foot diameter Plains Indian lodge and an explorer camp complete with a 25-foot dugout canoe. Local residents will give pre sentations during the five days Next Feeder Sale that Corps II is in Warm Springs. Invited to speak from the local community are the following people: Pat Courtney Gold, Louie Pitt, Terry Courtney Jr., the Warm Springs 4-H Dancers, George Aguilar, Liz Woody, Arlita Rhoan, Suzie Slockish, Adeline Miller, Roberta Kirk, Fred Wallulatum, Wilson Wewa, Chief Delvis Heath, and Viola Kalama. The exhibition will be in the parking lot of the Museum at Warm Springs. After April 26 the exhibition will travel to Umatilla. Corps of Discovery II is a joint effort of federal and state agencies, private and nonprofit organizations, and American Indian tribes. The National Park Service provides major funding, exhibit design and production, transportation, and support staff through the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, based in Omaha, Neb.
