The father’s parents are Gwen Leonard and Uren Leonard Jr. The mother’s parents are Valerie Squiem phen and Gary Sampson Sr. Great grand parents are Rita and Earl Squiemphen. The Lincoln’s Powwow Committee extends an invi tation to community mem bers take part in memorials and to open the Simnasho Long House in preparation for the Lincoln’s Day Pow wow. T he memorials and longhouse opening will be on Saturday, February 4, 2006. Memorial services to begin at 9 a.m. Howlak Tichum Levi L. Roy Levi L. Roy o f Wapato entered into rest on January 17, 2006 in Tacoma. He was born in Yakima on August 12, 1944 to Robert E . and Bessie I. (Bennett) Roy. He was raised and edu cated in Wapato. He worked for many years for the Wapato Irrigation P roject before retiring. He was a member o f the Yakama Nation and the 1910 Shaker Church o f W hite Swan. He enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting and going to the mountains. Levi is survived by his wife, Jeanette o f Wapato; his mother, Bessie Bennett; three sons, Jo e Roy o f Auburn, Robert Roy, Sr. o f Toppenish and Gabriel Roy o f Wapato; three daughters, Monica Roy o f White Swan, Shana Roy o f Tacoma, and Jeri Roy of Wapato; one brother, Melvin Bennett, Sr. o f Wapato; six sisters, Ruth Smartlowit and O rpha B en n ett both o f W apato, R oberta Queahpam a o f Warm Springs, Fran ces Roy o f Blackfoot, Idaho, Joni Tinno and Ellen Papse both o f Ft. Hall, Idaho; thirteen grand children; and severel nieces and nephews. Levi was preceded in death by his father; one son, Nathan Roy, Sr.; one daugh ter, Carla Roy. A b o u t 80 you th o f the W arm S prin gs community skied and snowboarded for free during the afternoon of Tribal Ski Day. Two Mt. Hood Meadows buses transported the youth from the Warm Springs Community Center to Mt. Hood Meadows, and then later in the day transported them back to tM reservation. Mt. Hood Meadows provided equiprrnt re n ta ls , lift passes, ee lessons and lunch. The tribal member youth who participted, accompanied by adult chaperones, hd the choice of either skiiing or snowboarcing. t Forestry seeking bids for gopher control program The Warm Springs For- estry D ep artm en t F o rest Development gopher control program is continuing a sealed bid procedure for the 2006 gopher trapping Sea- son.
