Page 8 Spilyay Tymoo, Warm Springs, Oregon October 13, 2005 Howlak Tichum Geneva Charley Warm Springs resident Geneva Charley passed away Sep tember 23, 2005, at the OI1SU Hospital in Portland, at the age of 57. Geneva was born January 16, 1948 to Verbena Tohet Greene, and Russell Charley Sr., and was raised by her grand parents Alec and Blanche Tohet. She was a member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. She was a longhouse leader as well as a good gatherer. Tradition and religion were important to her. What she learned, she passed down to her children and numerous nieces and nephews, and was teaching her grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed making yarn bags by cro cheting or weaving. She made these bags to be given as gifts at special occasions and giveaways. She did bead work for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces, nephews and grand children. She worked for the Mead Start Program for 22 years. She was a bus driver, parentteacher health coordinator, and a teacher to 3-ycar-old students. During the summer months, in the early 1980s, she was the director of the Naami Tamanwit Culture Camp. In 1994, when her mother became ill, Geneva took a leave of absence to take care of her mother until her pass ing in 2000. She served on the Health and Welfare Commit tee at the time of her passing, and will be missed by many people she met while attending meetings and conferences on behalf of the Confederated Tribes. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and her stepfather, Perry Greene. The father of her chil dren, Harold "Campy" McBride Smith jr. also precedes her death. Survivors include her sisters Celia Greene, Ramona Baez, Myrna "Paullec" Greene, Delsie Greene of Warm Springs, and Sarah Greene Gonzalez of Salem; Rosalind Sampson, and Melissa Charley of Warm Springs. Her broth ers Michael, Daniel, Roscoe, Timothy Greene and Chris Requa, all of Warm Springs. Her children Alexandria Smith and Jamesina Viveros of Salem, Joseph, Rhonda and Gary Smith of Warm Springs. Grandchildren Angelina Perez and Karina Tapia of Salem, and Shirley Geneva Wainanwit of Warm Springs. She had a hand in raising her niece Veronica Baez, her nephews Ramon Greene, Luiz Baez of Warm Springs, Jefferson Greene of Portland, and Gabriel Greene of Salem. She is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cous ins, nieces, nephews, and many friends, as well as four sis ters and two brothers from her father's family. Burial was at Dry Creek Cemetery following all-day services, and dress ing at the Agency Longhouse. Charles G. Reed Charles G. Reed of Warm Springs passed away on September 30, 2005. He was 73. Mr. Reed was born Feb ruary 6, 1932 in Portland to parents George and Amy (Pete) Reed. Mr. Reed was an en rolled member of the Con federated Tribes. He served in the US. Air Force during the Korean War, being honorably dis charged in 1955. Mr. Reed is survived by his daughter Colecn Reed of Warm Springs; brother Edward Reed of Bend; sis ter Ruby Reed of Warm Springs; two granddaugh ters and one great grandson.
