Spilyqy Tymoo, Worm Springs, Oregon September 1,2005 KWSO awarded for excellence Psge 2 At the annual Oregon Asso ciation of Broadcasters confer ence in Portland, KWSO was given an award for excellence, as the 2005 Public or Non-Commercial Radio Station of the Year. KWSO is owned and oper ated by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. This is the second consecutive year the sta tion won this award. KWSO was also recognized in the Public or Non-Commercial Radio category for the fol lowing; Best Station Image Promo tional Announcement for their "morning news promo" Best Public Service An nouncement for "after school Tuesday tutoring" Best Public Service Cam paign for their announcements on "Mcth" Care-giver The Warm Springs Victims of Crime Services will host the second care giver training day on Wednesday, Sept 14. The training day, "Caring for Tribal Elders and the Disabled," is free of charge, and will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Simnasho Longhouse. For information call Charles Tailfeathers Sr., Victim of Crime Services, at 553-2293. The vision statement of the seminar is, "Seniors and disabled persons, families and care giv ers are safe from abuse and neglect and ideas can be shared for positive growth." The training day begins Sept 14 at 8:15 a.m. with registration, followed by introductions. The first topic will be "Work ing with a Care Plan for In- Indian Trail no After 30 years of service, Richard and Vivian Macy have retired from Indian Trail Res taurant, which is now closed. The Macys wish to thank the community for the patronage over the years. Indian Trail is located at the Plaza, and is managed by Warm Springs Ventures, also located at the Plaza. Pool to close for The pool at the Village at Kah-Nee-Ta will be closed from Sept. 25 through Oct. 8. Debris burning in an incin erator behind the Rainbow Mar ket caused a fire that blackened 140 acres of privately owned land east of the Warm Springs boundary.
