Choose a large enough container. The smallest containers suitable for growing vegetables are eight to 10 inches wide and 10 inches deep. This size will have limited room for roots, soil, moisture and nutrients. Large con tainers, about 16 inches wide and 12 inches deep give more options. Whis key barrels are ideal for most veg etables, but are difficult to move but hold moisture the best 2. Use nutrient rich potting mixes. 3. Keep containers watered. 4. Make sure plants have good drainage. 5. Use slow release fertilizers. Containers 8 to 10 inches wide and 10 inches deep, or larger: This size works well for herbs, pe tite greens, and a few upright compact vegetables. Eggplants: compact variet ies with small fruits. Greens: arugula, corn salad, cress. Herbs: chives, cilantro, marjorams, oregeno, rosemary, parsley, thyme, tar ragon, basil. Containers 16 inches wide and 10 inches deep. This size is perfect for the plants mentioned above, plus the following: Broccoli, eggplants, horseradish, peppers, all tomatoes. Containers 20 inches wide and 16 deep, or larger, including small wine barrels: The extra width gives you room for plants that spread. For even more space, add a trellis to grow pole beans and peas. All the plants listed above can grow in these large containers, plus the following: Beans beets, broccoli, peas, dwarf sweet snap types. j to. lift A m Itukdi wigwa naika itgulxam.
