The Madras White Buffalos were
at home on October 12, 2000 to take
on the Sherwood Bowmen. This was
homecoming for the buffs and they
put on quite a show in the second half.
In the first half it looked as if
Sherwood was going to cruise as they
score two touchdowns in the first
quarter. Brian Ebcrhardt scored on a
run from 29 yards out, making the
score 6-0. The Bowmen went for a
2-point conversion, but the pass could
not be completed. Nick Marshall
caught a 16-yard pass from
Eberhardt, which doubled the score,
with another 2-point conversion
failed.
In the second quarter Jim
Winkler scored on a 3 yard run mak
ing the score 18-0. Sherwood again
failed to convert the 2-point conver
sion, leaving he score 18-0. Jordan
Marken added to the score with a 36
yard field goal. That made the score
21-0, going into half time.
Madras looked like a new team
in the second half scoring on a 16-
yard pass from Colter Barnes to
David White. Zarate missed the ex
tra point and the score was now 21
6. Sherwood answered with a 3 yard
run by Tim I larris. The extra point
kicked was blocked by the buffs.
After two 1 5-yard penalties from the
Bowmen, Barnes again connected
with White on a 42-yard touchdown
catch, and this time Zarate made the
extra point, closing the gap to 27-13.
Tim Harris swept to the left and ran
in for a touchdown from 3 1 yards
out, with Marken kicking the extra
point making the score 34-13.
In the fourth, the buffs played
really good defense, holding the
bowmen to 3 and out. The buffs capi
talized, on the defense and scored
from 26-yards out, on a pass from
Barnes to Jason Zarate. Zarate then
made the extra point and the score
was 34-20. The buffs again held the
bowmen and got the ball back on
downs. Kyle Jividen and Zarate both
caught key passes up the middle.
These two plays led to a 30-yard pass
