July 29, 1999 ? Vol.24No.16 S OR. COLL. Cfi S8 ' . ,- The 12th annual Warm Springs Family Jamboree was held behind the Community Counseling Center on Tuesday, July 20. For the first 10 years, the Family Jamboree, was sponsored by the Community Counseling Center. The last two years, the Jamboree has been sponsored by Warm Springs, Healthy Nations program. Each year the Jamboree features a bar-b-que, and games for young and old. This year, temperatures ranged in the high 80's which made the water slide a favorite of many young participants. Dana edits and prepares weekly Language programs for broadcast on KWSO and was recognized by the Native American Journalists Associa tion for outstanding perfor mance with an on-going program. Dana has been with the radio station since 1992 and plans to continue to promote the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs whenever and wherever he can. Living Traditions continues The Museum At WarmSprings again presents Living Tradition programs for the summer from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend. Artists demonstrate their special traditional skills. Snake bite victim listed stable Warm Springs resident Julie Meanus, 41 years of age was trans ported to Mt. View Hospital, Mon day evening July 26; with a sus pected rattlesnake bite to her foot. She was treated and stabilized at Mt. View and then transferred to Central Oregon District Hospital in Redmond. She is listed in fair condi tion. The incident occurred approxi mately 5pm Monday. She was walk ing from the Warm Springs Plaza area along Highway 26 and then be hind the Texaco down a footpath. Deborah Scott, 44, of Warm Springs was arrested and charged with cultivating the marijuana plants. The plants were approximately two feet tall and weighed in at ap proximately 5 pounds.
