The Madras White Buffaloes girls

past week. The Lady Buffs won
against Valley Catholic 59-50,

In the first quarter Madras was

In the second quarter, Madras
battle back and after a Marie Kalama

"As I Seen It." The Madras White
Buffaloes boy's basketball team
took it right to The Dalles Indians,
handing them a 76-64 defeat on
their home court, Tuesday, January

What happens when you leave
the gate open, well someone forgot
to close the gate on Jered Rico and
Brien Miller as they went on a
scoring spree, burning the nets for
an un-official total of 23 points,
apeice during the game. They both
turned in a great performance for
the night.
Brian Miller contributed 4 three
pointers during the game as he was
doing a good job from the three
point range, to get the 23 points for
the night and he was three of 4 at the
free throw line and was tough on
defense keeping the Indians off
balance. T. J. Moschetti added 16
points for the Buffs as he was 8 of 10
at the free throw line and add four
field goals. Jason Cordes had nine
points with one three pointer two
field goals and he was 2 for 2 at the
foul line. Kyle Wyatt contributed a
three pointer as he let it go just a half
of second before the buzzer sounded
to thrill the fans on that long shot,
Peter Johnson had a field goal to
round out the scoring for the Buff's
for the night.
Clay Thomsen was high for The
Dalles Indians with 1 3 points, Tyler
Jones and Edson Buchanan each
had 1 1 points, Jeff Downend 10,

The Elks Hoop Shoot held at the
Warm Springs Elementary January
21, had 124 participants among them
were one district champion and one
district runner-up. They were Ashley
Davis district champion and Albert
Adams district runner-up.
The rules were that you had to be
between the ages of eight to ten years
old and in the second through the
fourth grades. The winners were
determined by how much they made
out of 25 free throws.
Following is the list of participants

Suppah sat out the last 1 3 seconds of
the third and would not return until
about six minutes remaining in the
game. Each time Madras would close
the gap a little Stockten would answer
with a assist or a basket.
In the fourth, Madras would not
get closer then six points and The
Dalles took over first place in the
Tri-Valley stands with a 39-48 win.
Madras looked like they would make
a run at the lead and were down 32
45 with 2:36 left. T. Suppah fouled
out with 1:49 left and the score was
35-42. After that Madras could not
buy a basket and started to put The
Dalles on the foul line. Stockten and
teammate Shelly Schultens each
made two free-throws. The final score
read The Dalles 48, Madras 39.

Madras will host Gladstone on
Friday January 30, tip-off time 7:30.
Then on February 3, they travel to
Portland Christian.
Row
Ryes Hodges 6, Jeff Murat 3, and
Donavan Martin, Casey Hayes each
had 2 points apiece.
In the opening quarter it was a see
saw affair as each team went basket
for basket until late in that quarter
when the Buffs made a surge to out
score Indians 23-13, and from that
point on the Buffs never gave up the
lead or were never in trouble of losing
the lead, even though The Dalles
hung around just waiting for a chance
for something to open up for them.
The desperation by The Dalles
Indians put them in foul trouble in the
second half as they were going for the
ball and done a lot of fouling and the
Buffs capitalized on all those free
shots as the Buffs hit 19 out of 22
from the free throw line for the night.
This pushes the Buff to a three
game winning streak in their last three
outings. Their next game will be in
Gladstone as the Gladiators will host
the high flying Buffaloes on Friday
night Jan. 31, with game time at 7:30
p.m.
The next home encounter will be
next Tuesday when they host the
Portland Christian Valliants. In their
first meeting earlier in the year the
Valliants defeated the Buffs, so they
will be on a payback mission when
the Valleants invade Buffalo territory.
The Buffs will have to keep up
their winning streak and keep the
play-off in their sights as they soon
will be here.

Madras JV coach Mike Osborne
had this to say about how he thinks
the season is going. Osborne stated,
"We are coming togather as a team
and we must play together as a team
the next six. We have a real good
nucleus with Cece Polk doing alot of
the scoring for us. The two that I
think have really done most of the
dirty work, setting screens, getting
rebounds and put aside scoring is
Reina Estimo and Emily Espenel,
while Marie Kalama is a great spark
off the bench." Osborne concluded,
"We just are really team oriented and
that's what helps us be a good team.
Also these girls are easy to coach
because they are willing to learn and
listen."
