BACKGROUND;
"C'flala Anawisha" is a stickgame song.
For Kindergarten, the song and the movements
are done for the fun and enjoyment of the mu
sic, not for playing stickgame. There is no
drumming with this song. It is sung by two
groups. The first group sings the first verse,
repeating it two or three times. The first verse
is about the C'flala, the white winter weasel.
Follow along as we present the words and
phrases for this part:

It's a white winter weasel.

Is the white winter weasel hungry?

conversation sentences with the words that is in
the song. Then the second group answers back
with the second verse, repeating it two or three
times. The second verse is about "Wiyaxaluni
sapl" or bread that has been dipped into soup.
Today we'll teach these words and phrases.

People sing "C'ilala Anawisha" holding a
scarf tight between their hands, making rhyth
mic arm movements and swaying to the left and
to the right in time with the song. The "C'ilala"
is a weasel during the winter when its coat is
white. During the summer, when its coat is
brown, it is called "wataiya". Another English
word for the white winter weasel is "ermine."
We will sing both verses of the song with you.
