The Columbia River Compact on
August 18 agreed with the tribes'
commercial fishing season.

All of zone 6 is open (Bonneville,
The Dalles and John Day pools).
No mesh restriction will be in
effect.
The allowed sales will be salmon,
including steelhead, shad and
walleye. Sturgeon may not be sold.
All river mouth and dam
sanctuaries remain in effect. This
includes the Spring Creek Hatchery
sanctuary which is on the Washington
side of the river, one and one-half
mile below the hatchery ladder, and
one-half mile above the hatchery
ladder.
All scaffolds remain open. Fish
(except sturgeon) caught from
scaffolds may be sold during the open
commercial fishery.
Additional Zone 6 fishing dates
will be considered at the September
1 Compact hearing.

Tribal Council taking applications for board members
The Tribal Council of the
Confederated Tribes of the Warm
Springs Reservation of Oregon would
like to announce the following
vacancies:
Tribal Court Appellate Judges
(three positions), term ending
December 31, 1995.
WSTC 203.001 (1) "The Warm
Springs Court of appeals shall consist
of judges appointed for a term of
three years by the Tribal Council.
The judges shall be adult members
of the Confederated Tribes. One of
the judges shall be appointed as Chief
Appeals Judge by the Tribal Council
and shall be responsible for
administering the Court of Appeals."
WSTC 203.001 (2) "At least three
judges assigned by the Court
Administrator and approved by the
Chief Appeals Judge shall sit as the
Court of Appeals panel on each case.
The Court Administrator shall rotate
assignments so that each judge sits
on an approximately equal number
of cases.
Water Board (two positions),
one member term ending October
31, 1996, and one member term
ending October 31, 1998, or until
successors are appointed and take
office.
1 . Water Control Board consisting
of three members will be appointed
by the Tribal Council.
Primary function of the Board will
be to review all matters pertaining to
the water resource to make
recommendations to the Tribal
Council in regards to making the
Water Management Plan function
and to propose changes or
improvements in water policy and
the plan.
2. The Water Control Board will
be concerned with all activities
occurring in the watershed areas on
the Reservation. Before an activity is

(three positions), term ending July
1, 1998.
Section 2. Classification and term
of office.
(1) Class I shall consist of three
members, two of whom shall be a
member of the Tribe and one of whom
shall be a non member of the Tribe.
Class I directors shall have an initial
term in office expiring July 1, 1998,
or until their successors are appointed
and take office.
Section 7. General Powers
Regular meetings. Regular meetings
of the Board of Directors shall be
held quarterly in the months of
February. May, August and
November. The first regular meeting
in each fiscal year shall also be the
annual meeting of the Board of
Directors. At the annual meeting of
the Board of Directors, the Board of
Directors shall review the preceding
year's operations, elect officers and
transact such other business as may
come before the meeting. The regular
meetings shall be held at the time and
place specified by the Chairperson
of the Board in the notice of the
meeting. If the day fixed for the
regular meeting falls on a legal
holiday, or is otherwise inconvenient
or unsatisfactory in the opinion of
the Board of Directors, or the
Chairperson of the Board may fix
another date in lieu of the regularly
scheduled meeting date.
Section 8. Special meetings.
Special meetings of the Board of
Directors may be called on request of
the Chairperson of the Board and the
Board of Directors.

(six positions): Serve as an advisory
