Warm Springs offering rodeo, plenty of action
The 21 st annual Treaty Days All
Indian Rodeo, is scheduled for June 24,
& 25, 1995, here in Warm Springs.
This is a WSIRA sanctioned rodeo,
with all the points will be recorded and
at the end of the season the cowboys
with the most points will earn the right
to compete in the National Finals in the
Fall.
There are the regular eight rodeo
events of saddle bronc, bareback, bull
riding, steer wrestli ng, cal f ropi ng, bar
rel race brcadaway roping and team
roping. With the added events of wild
horse race, century roping and jr. barrel
race.
Books open: Thursday, June 15,
1995, at 9 a.m. and close Friday, June
16, 1995 at 5 p.m. Call back: Monday

nity Development (DECD) for Na
tive American vendors who wish to ;
sell their authentic merchandise dur
ing the 1995 Pendleton Round-Up.
Applicants must return their com
pleted application and proof of tribal
enrollment (or certificate of Indian
blood) to Katy Timmerman at DECD
no later than July 7.
The fee for operating a 10'xlO'
stand all four days of Round-Up is
$15. Vendors must provide their own
table and awning.

A Barbecue will be held at 4:00
p.m. Family games scheduled for

A community Pow wow is
scheduled at the Warm Springs
Community Center for 7:00 p.m.
Heavyweight Contender, Joe Hipp,
who will fight Bruce Sedon for the
W.B. A. Heavyweight title in August,
will be in attendance.
Twelve athletes will be attending
the Indigenous Games held in St.
Paul, Minnesota on July 28 through
August 6, 1995. The Indigenous
Games is a festival of sporting
activities that will have over 400
tribes and 8,000 to 10,000 athletes
representing Indian tribes from
Canada and the United States. There
will be six basketball players and six
Track & Field athletes representing
TEAM OREGON.
For Track & Field they , are: Tim
Williams, Cliff Pamperien, Raymond
Anderson, Siagigi Histake, Odessa
Jones, Mike Speakthunder and Andy
Leonard. For Basketball they are: Ty
Eaglespeaker, Jered Moses, Roland
' Kalama, III, Foster Sahme, Allen
Jackson and Mario Smith. Coach
Chaperones will be Andy Leonard,
Fran Ahern and Austin Greene.
These athletes will be having fund
raisers for team uniforms throughout
the community.,.

conducting the First Annual
"Shoot the Rock" Basketball Clinic, July
19, 1995 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boys and
girls ages 6-18 are welcome.
Billy Mills Invitational Track Meet set
Billy Mills Recreational,
Invitational Youth Track Meet is
scheduled for July 18, 1995 at 5:00
p.m. at Madras High School. The
event is for boys and girls ages 3-5
years of age ,6-18 years of age.
Those interested may sign-up at the
Recreation Department.

the Warm Springs Recreation
Department and Community Health
Promotion.
Midnight Basketball
There will be a Midnight
Basketball League for all boys and
girls ages 13-21 years of age. It will
take place from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30
p.m. on June 30, July 1, 7, 8, 14, 21,
22, August 11, 12, 17, 18.
The focus will be on fundamentals,
stretching, conditioning, teamwork,
(oh yeah, and scrimmages). Players
show up in the beginning, to
participate.

The Warm Springs Reservation
Runners are holding their 15th
Annual Pi-Ume-Sha Run, 10K and
2.0 mile run, Saturday, June 24, 1995,
at 8:00 a.m. starting and ending at
the Warm Springs Community
Center.
It is a flat course, out and back.
Water stations will be located
throughout the course.
Entry fee is $10 pre-registered,
$12 day of the race, no T-shirt and
club members $7.
There are male and female
divisions in age groups as follows:
Under 10, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25
29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50
54, 55-59, and 60 & over. Overall
male and female winners will receive
awards. First through third place male
and female finishers in each division
will receive ribbons.
Registration will open at
approximately 6:45 a.m. on the day
of the race and will close at 7:45 a.m.
