Henley Hornets top field at Holiday tourney
The Henley Hornets of Klamath
Falls prevail at the Madras Holiday
basketball tournament edging out the
host White Buffaloes by a slim margin
of 73-69.
It was that last quarter surge by the
Henley Hornets that lifted them over a
determined eger Buff quicnt The Hor
nets had to get their act together or be
upset by a non ranked team from the
pre-season polls. The Buffs jumped
out early in the game and held onto a
Utile lead at the intermission. The Hor
nets started to make their move in the
third quarter slowly creeping and chop
ping away at the Buff lead and finally
near the end of the fourth quarter the
Hornets were able to take the lead away
from the Buffs and never relinquished "
it again and held on to win the game.
The Buffs took charge of the game
right from the start containing the big
ger Henley Hornets most of the game.
At the end of the first quarter the Buffs
were out in front 17-10 and out scored

lead 42-27 at the half time mark.

No. 3, rated team in the state according
to the pre-season polls. A key factor
was holding Hcnleys big Peoples to
only three points in the entire game,
where usually he is one of the big point
producers for the team. The Buffs even
out rebounded the big guy all evening
long, andacoupleof times they blocked
his shots.
Phillip Miller was the leading scorer
for the Buffs at games end with a total
of 19 points dispite leaving the game
early in the third quarter with an eye
injury where he never returned to ac
tion..JakeSuppah contributed 17points
to the Buffs scoring, Jacks 15, Johnson
