But is he or she ready? Some children mature more quickly than others. Entering children in school at the right time in their development increases the likelihood of their succeeding in studies and enjoying school. Children who are ready for kindergarten: enjoy getting along with others and are able to take turns and cooperate in a group. Children ready for kindergarten are also able to enjoy unstructured play with other children and understand and observe property rights of others; are comfortable being away from parents or child-care providers for short periods; are able to stay in an activity 15 or 20 minutes and sit still for brief periods of time; are able to express themselves clearly when speaking; ask questions to get information; tell their full name, address and telephone number; tell about their experiences; and discuss stories told or TV programs viewed; can follow a short sequence of simple directions and are able to cope with minor disappointments; are able to use the toilet without assistance from others, put on their coats without help, feed themselves using fork and spoon, hop on one foot two or more times in a row, catch a large bouncing ball and run and stop on a signal; put toys away when asked; can identify some Subscription to Spilyay Tymoo Send subscription to: SPILYAY TYMOO, P.O. When the bus picks up or drops off children, it would be very helpful if parents would watch little ones that run out and meet the bus. they can get too close for comfort which causes a dangerous situation. Thank you for your assistance! 2nd, 3rd & 4th Grade Natural Resource Field Trip Tours The Natural Resource Field Trip Tours are just around the corner. Parent should be receiving information and permission slips from teachers letting them know about the specific field triptour that students will be participating in. Extension agents in the Warm Springs and Madras Extension Offices will be responsible for guiding the tours. Parentadult helpers are important!! Please contact your student's teacher if you are interested in attending. The field triptours are scheduled as follows: Thursday May 19, 4th graders go to HeHe Butte, approximately 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Friday, May 20th, 3rd graders go to Sullivan's Pond, approximately 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.; Thursday, May 26th 2nd graders go to HeHe Butte approximately 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. BreakfastLunch Payments Dawn, Chele and Judy would like to thank parents for responding positively and promptly when contacted regarding lunch charges or low balances for their students. There is an improvement over last year's daily charge balances. We know sometimes it is irritating to receive calls or notes and we don't mean for it to be this way. Because of parent's attention, we have not had to refuse meals to students and several students have gone all year without a meal charge. Again, thank you for your continued support!
