The event was in honor of former wildhorse racers. The 18 teams were divided into four sections that were held throughout the rodeo. The top two teams in each section competed in the finals. First place, given in memory of Vernon Jughead" Suppah, went to the Ray Roba, Buck Smith and Troy Smith team. The Franklin Suppah family added $500 to the purse. They won beaded buckles, 50 percent of the entry and the added purse. Total money won was $2,050. Second place was in memory of Dennis Starr. Team members were Donavan Burns, Claude Smith,Jr.andMauriceSmith.They won 30 percent of the entry , coats, donated by Ramona Starr and family, and added money, total ling $1,230. Third place, in memory of Devearl Winishut, went to the Spud Smith, Hobo Patt and Rodney Smith team. They received ribbon shirts, 20 percent of the entry and $500 added money. They won a total of $820. Fishers take stick game title Friday, June 26, twenty-six individual teams commenced with the annual stick games. These stick games carried over throughout the entire Pi-Ume-Sha weekend and was wrapped up on Monday. 1. Leo Fisher's team walked away with first prize of $2,000. 2. Eddie Young's team came in second claiming $1,500. 3. Kim Donning's team was third and won a total of $500. 4. Ester Bill's team came in fourth with a prize of $200. The 23rd annual Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days here in Warm Springs completed another year of celebration from June 27-28, 1992, with a number of finalists in each of the events. There was a total of nineteen drums for the weekend dancing. Friday night started off with Grand Entry at 7 p.m. then a prayer and welcoming followed with an Intertribal dance. The results for the Little Girls 6 and under: 1 . Dolly Hemsaio; 2. Eileen Kinley; 3. Tiana Greene; and 4. Amelia Davis. The Little Boys 6 & under: 1. Kendrick Slim; 2. Jacob Jim; 3. J.J. Meninick; and 4. Anthony Medona. After completing the 6 & under events the outgoing 1991 Pi-Ume-Sha Queen Phoebe Suppah was honored, then the crowning of the 1992 Pi-Ume-Sha Queen. The Sr. Court consisted of three candidates; Charmagne Watts, Madeline Jim and Juanita Majel. Madeline Jim was awarded Princess, and Juanita Majel was crowned Miss Pi-Ume-Sha.This year there was also a Jr. Court; TiannaTuckta, Paleena Spino, Candace Miller, Natasha Mares, Luisa Fuentes, and Leanne Wolfe. Luisa Fuentes was named Princess and Candace Miller was crowned Lil' Miss Pi-Ume-Sha for 1992. Following the crowning, the Little Girls Round Dance, ages 7-11 took place, results are as follows; 1. Christa Rhoan of Warm Springs; 2. Vicky Minnick of Toppenish; 3. Bethany Savala of Wapato; and 4. Tilda Walsey ofSatus.The Little Boys 7-11: 1. Preston Smith of Warm Springs; 2. James Walsey of Satus, Washington; 3. Howard Dave of Harrah, Washington and 4. Vincent George of Wapato, Washington. Saturday morning started off at 10:30 with a Traditional Dress Parade, then grand entry at 1 p.m. Teen Girls Round dance 12-16 results: 1. Arlissa Rhoan , of Warm Springs; 2. Margaret Dave of Wapato; 3. Tenille Yazzie of Tuba City, Arizona; 4. Lyda Rhoan of Warm Springs; and 5. Elaine Espirite of Goldendale, Washington. Teen Boys Fancy ages 12-16: 1. Shawn Eskee of , Tee Nos Pos, Arizona; 2. Rocco Clark of Toppenish; 3. Scotty Thompon of Toppenish; 4. D.J. MeninickofLenore, Idaho, and S. Solomon ScabbyRobe of White Swan. Completing the dance followed the annual Wan-A-Bee Contest and the Kussa Round Dance for ages 60 years and older, then the 01 Warriors War Dance for ages 60 years and older. The Honoring of Native American Veter ans followed Grand entry for the evening section started at 7 p.m. while the Girls Tradi tional War Dance ages 1 2-1 6 followed: 1. Victoria Andrews of White Salmon; 2. Dawn Slickapoo of Kim i ah, Idaho; 3. Madeline Jim of Warm Springs, 4. Ronica Billy of White Swan; and 5. Louisa Tuckta of Warm Springs. Boys straightTraditional ages 12-16: 1. Quincy E. Jackson of Lapwai; 2. Russell McCloud of Toppenish, 3. Elvis Sampson of Wapato, 4. Donavan Beavert of Goldendale, Washington and 5. Ted Billy of White Swan. Women's Team Round Dance ages 17 and up: 1. Mary Sando-Emhoolah, Carmen Martineau, Delilah B egay and Elsie Jim. 2. Amelia Colwash, Arlita Rhoan, Pearl Sammaripa, and Char lotte Herkshan. 3. Audrey Olney, Edith Walsey, and Masami Danzuka; and 4. Esther Nanamkin, Carta George, and Delores George. Men's Team Dance Open Contest ages 17 & up: 1 . Lorren Sammaripa, Lynn Burson, Levi Carson and Lonnie Sammaripa, Sr. 2. George Meninick, Bruce Sampson and Galen Yallup. 3. Eric George, Rainbow Azure, and Rodney Totus; and 4. Johnson Meninick, John Meninick and William Clements. Sunday events began with Grand entry at 2 p.m. The women's Fancy Jingle: 1. Jetta J. Martineau of Globe, Arizona; 2. Janet Paskemin of SweatGrass, Canada; 3. Amy Bear skin of Winnebago, Nebraska; 4. Dorena Martineau of Globe, Arizona; and S. Shanna Martineau of Globe, Arizona. Women's StraightTradi tional ages 17 & up: 1. Pearl Sammaripa of Ft. Duchesne, Utah; 2. Masami Danzuka of Warm Springs; 3. Amelia Colwash of Warm Springs; 4. Arlita Rhoan of Warm Springs, and 5 . Delilah Begay of Dinon, Arizona. The men's FancyGrass ages 17 & up:l. Joseph Culps of Warm Springs; 2. Erik George of Goldendale, Wash ington; 3. Mike Poryahquqtewa of Tuba City, Arizona; 4. David Jackson of Eugene, Oregon and S. Stanson Yazzie of Klamath Falls, Oregon. Men's TraditionalStraight ages 17 & up: 1. Lorren Sammaripa of Ft. Duchesne, Utah; 2. Lynn Burson of Roosevelt, Utah; 3. Joe Tuckta of Warm Springs; 4. Kenny ScabbyRobe of White Swan; and S. George Meninick of Toppenish. The Aaron Mitchell Memorial Drum Contest was also held; first place was awarded to Dine' Nation of Tuba City, Arizona which was sponsored by Jimmy Tohet, Sr. Second place went to Cathedral Lakes of Steamboat Canyon, Arizona; sponsored by Jimmy Tohet, Sr. Third place was awarded to Blacklodge of White Swan, Washing ton; sponsored by Macy's, Margie Kalama, Ahem's, InterTribal Sports, and Jimmy Tohet, Sr. And fourth place went to Indian Creek of Mesa, Arizona which was sponsored by Dallas Winishut, Jr. and Animal.
