It was a scorcher with tempera tures up in the very high 90's and 100's during the tourney. Dispitc the hot weather the JCgirls opened up with a win over neighbor Red mond 6-1. but in the next game they were set back by Columbia in a close game 3-2. Susan Skavlan recoreded 15 strikeouts as JC won their third game 23-2. Skavlan was outstanding during the tourney along with the rest of the team w ho gave it a good team effort. W.S. Recreation sponsors J.C. Fair RunWalk The Jefferson County Fair Fun Run Walk will be held Saturday, July 28 beginning at 8 a.m. The 4.75 mile fun run and one-mile walk will start at Sahalce Park in Madras. The course will highlight the recently completed Willow Creek walking biking trail. This year's event is sponsored by Warm Springs Recreation ucpartmcni. Entry fee will be $3 per person. Each finisher will receive a visor. Mail entries must be received by Thursday, July 26. Participants may also register the morning of the race. Aee urouy divisions in the 4.75 mile run will be as follows: 13 and under; 14 through 19; 20 through 29; 30 through 39; 40 through 49; and, 50 and over. One of the big features is the rodeo which will take place on Friday night and Saturday after noon. The first performance will get under way at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night and at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. There will be no rodeo on Sunday. The rodeo stock will be fur nished by the Prinz Rodeo Stock Contractors of Terrabone, Ore gon. The annual Alumni football game will be on August 25, 1990, game time at 7:30 p.m. in the Madras High football stadium. ' Equipment check-out will be from, 2-5 p.m. and the dressing room will open at 6 p.m. on Sat urday. This year the graduates of the odd numbered years will VS the graduates of the even numbered years. So if you graduated on years like 85, 87 or 89 you will be on one team and the even numbered years like 84, 86, 88 and so forth you will be on the other team. Now is the time for you to show your stuff once again and remem ber. . .August 25th is when the stars will shine once again. Football camp scheduled A football camp headed by Rod Chester, Madras High tootball coach, will be held on August 13 to the 16, 1990. There will be a divi sion in age groups with the first being boys in the 3rd to the 5th grades their session will be from 3-5 pm. This will include the basics and fundamentals of football for the younger boys. For the boys in the 8th and 9th grades and also for the boys in the 1 0th to 12th grades, the sessions will be from 6-8 pm. There will be a camp fee of $30.00. to cover In surance, a T-shirt and instruc tions. For more information a person can contact Mr. Chester.
