PAGE 4 May 18, 1990 Warm Springs, Oregon Spilyay Tymoo Editorial E Coosfa EEWA (The way it is) Letters to the Editor A, ' ... ' "Spiky Speak" Little League program in full swing J"f.UEDlTOR Why get all shook-up and cranky while you are on the road to Madras at the present time? Just think, in a month or two you will be zooming up the grade with passing lanes and not having to follow those old slow trucks that have gotten you all shook-up and cranky in the past. Just imagine the new grade that will soon be there with those passing lanes. It has been a pain in the neck in the past going up the grade and it never failed that when a person was in a hurry to get to Madras before the bank or what ever closed there were always two or three trucks crawling up the hill, holding up the traffic. Someday you will be able to look back and tell your grandchildren how narrow the roads used to be and how long it took you to make a run in the "olden days." Things have picked up a bit since they started working day and night on the grade but the waiting is still there in between pilot cars. Patience is all a person needs now and soon it will all be in the past. We will all appreciate the new grade. With all the population growth in the country today and all the people on the roads traveling, we will need a wide roadway all the way into Madras. It seems like each year the traffic gets heavier and heavier all across the country. Art wanted for KNT exhibit To the editor, The Warm Springs Little League program is in full swing now, since registration has taken place for the past 3-4 weeks begin ning March 26th. A lot of adver tisement was put out on the signing up for the program. With Warm Springs growing each and every year, we request to start signing up Sconawah retires v players as soon as possible. That way we can determine exactly how many teams we need in each age division. We are here to try and suit as many youth as we can, and from registration, we know well in advance how many teams we need in each age division. We do not want to turn any youth away due to roster space, so that is the reason for the early sign-up. Right now we are having a lot of youth sign-up late in the season, and it is causing this problem of where to place them. The drafting of players took place during the first week of April, and players registered at the time, and players that gave played the year previous, were all put on the board for drafting. After the draft, teams rosters were already filled with players, thus causing prob lems for the late signers. That is why we will have the early sign-up again next year so we do not have to face this problem. Warm Springs has, at the moment, four T-ball coaches that have dropped from the program due to other conflicts, thus creating a last minute problem of replacing these coaches for these teams. The season kicked off for Major League boys and Minor League girls Monday, May 7th, Major girls and Minor boys games started on Tuesday, May 8th. The Senior girls and the new Sr. boys program has not come up with a schedule as yet. Andy Leonard, who is in charge of the care of equipment and uni forms, requests that any players still having a uniform from last year, please return them so that another youth will be able to use it this year. So, if you still have a uniform, please return them as soon as possible. It will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
