Gary- Was the top money winner at the two day event. Children’s basketball practice begins Warm Springs Boxing Club update With this years boxing program still in infant stages the WSBC has 15 boys in training for another busy year. The boys are under the watchful eyes of coaches Gerald and Randy Smith. Gerald said the club will have another active year and have already took part in two boxing matches. The first one held in the Jr. High School in Hood River on September 24, where Lonnie Smith 8 years old n the 60 pound class, Thom as Maralus 9 years old 60 pounds and Delbert Lawson 12 years old in the 85 pound division were entered. For their first time out the boys done real well for such a short time in prepration for the matches. On October 8-9, the WSBC entered three boys in the Sub- Novice boxing tournament held in Vancouver, Washing ton. Ja b b a r Davis came through as an un-contested champion in the 11 year old 105 North American All-Indian Boxing Championship Civic Center Arena Great Falls, Montana November 4 7 ,1 8 >19^; < pound division. Rusty Marcum also came out an un-contested champion in the 15 year old 147 pound class. In a special bout Rusty was matched with a boy T from the Eugene Boxing Club and lost a close decesion. lib Everett Windyboy in the 13 year old 119 pound class lost a split decesion in his bout. This was Windyboys first match which showed he still needs lots of work dispite loseing a toe to toe action packed bout for the full three rounds. A bid has been submitted for the Silver Glove Tournament to be held here on November 12-13. This will include boxing clubs fro m O regon and Southwest Washington and will be sanctioned by the USA/ABF Oregon Associa tion.
