PAGE 10 JUNE 3, 1983 SPILYAY TYMOO Students try their best to come out first in events at the district fifth and sixth grade track meet held at Madras High school on M ay 27. Softball league nears completion The “Ruin Your Nooner,” s o f tb a ll p ro g ra m fro m throughout the organization is winding down the home stretch with a big playoff scheduled for June 18. It was hoped that a pot-luck lunch could have been in store but with such short time remaining there was no time to organize a committee for the event perhaps each team coud bring their own lunch. This has been a fun league for everyone because a super star was not the focus of this program. It was just a get out and play ball and have fun affair. There were some spectacular plays made during each game like people colliding with each other going after a fly ball, for some it was after they opened their eyes they realized that they caught the ball and to prove the super condition some of the noon time athletes are in as shown by hits that were good for a triple or a home run earned a single or double at best. With all the glory to soon pass by the league will see no ch a m p io n team because everyone was a champ in his own right. So we will not see an y j a c k e ts d is p la y in g “Champs,” Ruin Your Noon,” league, or “All-star,” or what every glory is handed out in their activities around the community. The Purchasing Department displaying some fine talent at times>could not even purchase a win but with some superb play by various individuals gave the team the boost they needed. The Planning Department team had plans but some of them didn’t work out so well. The Personnal Department has had their ups and downs mainly getting personnel out to play. The Teachers were out to teach all the other teams a lesson and have done a good job. The Tribal Court had some times when they were faced with that big decision on playing or not, but when they did they came out in full force. The Health Branch seemed to be quite healthy doing a good job on the diamond. The Community Center, Police Department are the teams with the hidden talent and the BIA team at times could have used Watts service in paving the way. The Fire and Safety a newly organized team has yet to show what they have in store. The Spilyay Supers use their game plans well, so far they have had one tie with the Planning Department and a game is rescheduled to break that tie. They lost two heart breakers or to say up-set by the u n d e r-d o g . One to the Accounting Department by the score of 11-4, smehow one of the accountants came up with eleven fingers. Its not over yet, all the teams have a chance to prove themselves before the big play offs on June 18. There will be other attractions to be added on that day.
