During periods o f stress Bobb helps with counseling and organizational aspects of the T r o u b le d E m p lo y ees program. He evaluates cases and makes recommendations for treatment often acting as a liaison between the treatment program, the employee and the employer, all the while keeping the person involved in the program on the job and motivated. 6. The 553-1161, ext. 216. Trouble Employee program is open to any tribal employee having a need fo r counseling. From the high school counselor Last week pink slips were mailed. These are written progress reports m id-w ay through the third quarter of school. Any parent wishing to discuss the pink slips with high school teachers may make an app ointm en t through the secretaries and visit teachers during their prep period, before or after school. There are still thirteen weeks to improve grades. Gwen Carter, a counselor from the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board will handle all applications for the Summer Enrichment program. Any student wanting to apply should please see me as soon as possible. The student financial aid form should have been sent to college scholarship service in Berkley, California. Seniors, if you haven’t sent them, please d o so righ t a w a y ! A ll counselors at the high school have been trained in filling out these form s— if you need assistance, please drop by. The eighth annual North west Indian Youth Conference is being held at the Seattle C e n te r . T h e c o n f e r e n c e c o m m itte e e x p e c ts 1,100 stu dents and chaparones. S u b je cts in c lu d e te en a g e runaways, self-im age, drug abuse, culture, and careers. There are many more topics which concern today’s Indian youth. There will also be an art contest, incentive awards, and N o r th w est In d ia n Y ou th Scholarship for senior students plus many other activites for the conference participants. The Indian Club is raising funds to attend this conference and students will be having bake sales, bottle drives, a car wash and other activites that will assist in making money. 9. Grand entry will be held each evening at 6 p.m. An open drum com petition will be featured. Awards for drum competition may be gifts in lieu o f cash. Any dancers wishing to CONFUCIUS SAY: “Soon as girl use little horse-sense everybody ride her!” YIKES SS SS SS Here recently there was this famous race horse that was stolen and while the thiefs had him in hiding they had him put up at stud each day. It was said that the ransom money o f so many million dollars was put up, but it was learned that the stud refused to go home YIKES SS SS present a special performance during the program should contact the Native American Club. Tent and campers sites will be available at the fairgrounds. A limited amount o f lodging will be available, but persons need to contact the cly.b so reservations can be made. B e c a u se th e N a tiv e American Club wants to have a successful powwow, they are se e k in g c o n tr ib u tio n s o f venison, salmon, roots, special talent and cash donations. None o f the students’were able to do so and all flunked the exam.
