White Buffalo football update C/C gym activities The showdown is nearing for the Madras White Buffalo football team after a one win and two loss record in non league play so far this season. The Buffaloes won th eir opening game, beating the rival AAA school the Bend Lava Bears on the Buff home field 25-12. On the following week the Buffs traveled to Marist in Eugene for another non conference game with a strong AA team from that area only to lose in the final seconds from a field goal as time was running out in the game, the final score 3-0. The Buffs led in all aspects of the game however they were unable to push over a score. On S eptem ber 17, the Buffaloes traveled to southwest Washington to play another non-league football game with a n o th e r A A A s c h o o l. B a ttle g r o u n d . T h is w as another battle of defense where Madras once again ended up on the short end by the score of 7-2. All facts show that Madras should have been the winner as they compiled a total of 10 first downs as compared to only three for Battleground. Madras led in all statistics, but Battleground was able to score. Madras blew some chances to pull the game out but the odds seemed to be against them. Madras- was able to put two points up from the defense as they tackled a Battleground ball carrier in their end zone for the two points. The Madras White Buffaloes had a bye on September 24, and the next encounter will be in league play against Nyssa on their home field. Time will tell if the week lay off will do the Buffs any good or bad. If they continue with their strong defense and get the offense going things could look pretty good down the road. It is always a question when it comes to league play because thats when all the teams are all fired up and ready to face their challenge.
