Duties involve working in several vital functions and services such as management analysis, procurement, c o n tra ct a d m in istratio n , space management, security administration, reports management, data processing and other closely related activities. Responsibilities include performing certain duties acting in the capacity of the Secretary/Treasurer during his absence. A college degree in business Administration and a minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years prior experience in civic and business management, five (5) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. T o c a r r y o u t th e administrative service functions, the Administrator is responsible for the following departments: Personnel, CETA Program, Printing Services, Records, Spilyay Tymoo and Steno Services. To carry out Fire destroys portable debarker “That wasn’t the place to be” was the response made by Chriss Keesecker who was operating a portable debarker at Warm Springs Forest Products Industries after jumping from the machine when it went up in flames. Keesecker escaped without injury but the debarker is a total loss. Keesecker explained that he was operating the debarker on July 26 when “It just started on fire. The fire was in the cab by the time I was out of it.” The debarker unit along with a chipper is contracted from Echo Lumber Company in Sweet Home, Oregon. Thè fire was reported to Warm Springs Fire and Safety department at 1:38 p.m. It was extinguished by 2:14 according to fire fighter Fred Muniz. The fire was confined to the machine. Firefighters remained at the scene of the fire to cool the machine down. the Financial Services function, the Administrator is responsible for the following departments: Accounting, Data Processing, Purchasing, Vital Statistics, Management Information Systems. He was employed by the White Swan Lumber Company. He was known throughout the Northwest as a fancy dancer at many powwows. He had been a runner at many of the fun runs held in the Yakima Valley area. On January 1, 1969 he married Blanche Culps at Madras, Oregon. He attended schools in the Warm Springs and Madras area. Ray Meanus Surviving him is his wife Blanche and a son, Scott Neal of White Swan; four brothers Olsen Meanus, Leroy Scott and Zane Scott of Warm Springs and Marvin Meanus of Phoenix, Arizona; and five sisters Hilda Culpus, Beatrice Winishut, Josepha Crowe and Jeanette Yazzie all of Warm Springs and Nancy Yallup of White Swan, Washington. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Dressing services were held at the Merrit Funeral Home in Wapato, Washington con ducted by members of the Seven Drum Religion on August 2 at 10 a,m. Overnight services were held at his home in White Swan on August 2. Tribal overnight services were h eld at th e S im n a s h o Longhouse on August 3. Burial was at the Simnasho Cemetery at 8 a.m. Armena Frank TOTALLY DESTROYED—A debarker machine contracted by WSFPI from Echo Lumber Company in Sweet Hom e cough fire and was totally destroyed while in operation on July 26. There were no injuries. Spilyay Tymoo photo by Shewczyk Armena Frank, 33, died July 28, 1982. She was born November 13, 1948 to Aurelia and Wilson T. Frank. Surviving are her mother, Aurelia Stacona; five brothers, Louis and Randy Scott, Theodore and Devory Frank and Ramone Stacona; five sisters, Mayann Gabriel, Flora “Lea” Scott, Karen Howtopat, Ervanna Brown and Audrey Frank. Dressing was held at the Madras Evergreen Chapel July 29, 1982 with Reverends H arriot Woods and Eler Martin officiating. Overnight Seven-Drum ceremonies were h eld a t th e S im n a s h o Longhouse w ith M atilda Mitchell and Sylvia Wallula- tum officiating. Burial was July 30, 1982 at the Mouth of the Warm Springs River cemetery. Armena had attended high school in Madras and Lawton, Oklahoma. She had lived in Seattle, Washington for the past three years.
