Jim Hart, Ray Shike, Jr. and Ralph Minnick each had 237 games to split second and third. The high team game went to Kah-Nee-Ta for their total of 992. Madras Auto Parts was second and third with games of 991 and 938 respectively. The high individual three game series went to Dick Souers for his high o f629. Paul Burke had 624, Ray Shike, Jr. and Waldren Lessert each came out with 601 series for the night. Teen Club hosts tourney this weekend The Warm Springs Teen Club basketball team would like to thank their people, the Confederated Tribes, for their ever present support. We participated in four b a s k e tb a ll to u r n a m e n ts , placing second at the Yakima Nation High School tourna ment, second at the Chemawa tournament, fourth at the Reno tournament and fifth at White Swan. We are hosting a teen basketball tournam ent this com ing weekend, starting Friday April 17, 18 and 19. Come on dow n to the Community Center and enjoy some teen basketball. We’d like to give a big thank you to Chinn Suppah, Austin Green, Lyle Rhoan, Satch Miller and anyone else I may have forgotten to mention, for lending a helping hand when needed. Here are some of our local young men that have been Toppenish rodeo scheduled The Jack Pot Rodeo will be held at the Vic Wood Arena in Toppenish, W ashington on April 25 beginning at 1:30 p.m. and on April 26 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Entry fee must be paid by April 24 at 6:00 p.m. The scheduled events include bareback, ribbon roping, bull riding, novice bull riding, barrel racing, novice barrel racing and team roping. Come on down and support the hosting team—the Warm Springs Teen Club basketball team. Individual Skill—Measuring things up is part of the skill required in the game of golf. LeviBobb and Louie Pitt, Jr. came in fourth at the recently held Best Ball Tournament held at Kah-Nee-Ta Spilyay Tymoo photo by Shewczyk Lions best ball tourney The fourth annual Lion’s best ball tournament was held Saturday and Sunday April 11 and 12, 1981. The tourney one of the major ones herein Warm Springs boasted a very good turn out of golfers even though the weather was uncooperative according to Kah-Nee-Ta’s Jim Wilkensen. There were 100 golfers on hand from the Northwest participating and braving the bad weather. The following are the results for the gross scores; Adler and Smith both of Portland had 132; Chapman and Elloitt also o f P o r tla n d h a d 137; Wilkenson of Kah-Nee-Ta and Isaacs of Portland had 138 and Estimo and Estimo of Warm Springs had 139. The net scores were; Wyzard and Jagles of Kah-Nee-ta had Redmond had 120; Fuptesand Anderson of Yakima had 121; Bobb and Pitt of Kah-Nee-Ta had 122 and Jackson and Schnitzler of Kah-Nee-Ta had 122. The tournament netted a total of $480 which was turned over to the local Lions Club. The funds will be used for very worth causes for such things as eye and ear examinations and also to help purchases glasses and hearing aids for those who may need assistance in the Warm Springs area. Tygh Valley Rodeo The 1981 All-Indian Rodeo will be held Saturday and Sunday May 16 and 17 at Tygh Valley, Oregon beginning at 1:30 p.m. It is once again sponsored by the Tywama Saddle Club. Queen of the 1981 Tygh Valley All-Indian rodeo is Vesta Johnson and Cinda Heath is princess. Both are Madras High School students. Selection was made Sunday April 12 during the Root Feast Rodeo. the purses for the various events are $400 for saddle bronc, $350 for bareback, $350 Bicycle Moto Cross Season begins for bull riding, $300 for bull The 1981 Bicycle M oto Cross season is beginning in Central Oregon. Races are scheduled to dogging,.calf roping, wild cow begin in mid-April at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Races will be held almost every weekend milking, team roping and girl’s barrel race. Wild horse racing is until the weather prevents racing in the fall. BMX gives kids from age five and up an opportunity to compete, as well as being physically $150 a day. Entry fee for all demanding. A boy or girl doesn't have to be big or compete in BM X. The sport doesn’t stop with the events is $30. Team roping fee end of the teenage years either, as there are BM X racers in their 20s. An entry may be phoned in with a current WSIRA card at (503) 553-1461, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. daily. A current negative Coggins test is required for stock brought to the rodeo grounds. Other activities during the two day event include an Indian Arts, and Crafts Tair. More information concerning this can be obtained by calling 544-2723. Saturday evening there will be Indian War dances at 6:30 and a western dance is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. The Buckaroo Breakfast will be held Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at a cost of $4 and $2.50. Admission for adults is $4, kids are $2, small children are free. Camper parking fee is $2 f o r th e w e e k e n d a n d automobile parking is $1 per day.
