DECEMBER 15, 1978 PAGE 7 Wrong weekend but fun anyway When the drumbeat faded and the dancers departed, Wide- spot Mini-powwow coordinator Wilfred Jim said, ‘‘Never a- gain.” The powwow will be moved back to Thanksgiving weekend next year to give visit ors more traveling time and to perk up the holiday. The December 1-3 mini powwow was quite successful despite the dates. Afternoon dancing cast long shadows and raised the dust (left). Colleen Seelatsee and “Captain” Moody enjoyed an old style owl dance with singers hand-drumming in the center (below). Queen Florene Johnson and her princesses giggled a lot (bottom left, in order of rank; missing is Annette Sampson). And Wilbur Johnson, Sr. war danced for the first time in nine years.
