Girls Lose Bid For Slate Tournament
In the February 10 game
against Bend, “ the girls prob
ably played one of their best
games of the season,” said
coach Wiles.
Mina Shike was commended
for her outstanding playing in
the game. Coach Wiles said that
“ it was her best game of the
season.”

Burns was a different story
for the girls on February 11.
Although the girls were behind
by 8 points in the third quarter,
they managed to pull themselves
together and come away as
winners.'
Wiles states that a lot of
girls went home with bumps and
bruises because the game was
such a physical game. Kimiko
Danzuka was commended for
her overall performance in this
game.

The girls couldn’t get it to
gether when they were up
against Wahtonka on February
18. One of the reasons being
Wahtonka shot 83 per cent from
the free throw line, compared
with 50 per cent for Madras.
This loss killed any hope for
the girls to advance to the State
AA tournament.

Annual
Root Feast
Rodeo Set
Plans for the annual Root
Feast Rodeo are being finalized
by the Warm Springs Rodeo
Association. Dates for the rodeo
have been set for April 15 and 16.
A purse of $150 will be added
to the seven standard events.
Events, entry fees and go-rounds
are as follows: Bareback $25.50,
(1 go-round), Bullriding $30.50 (1
go-round), Calf Roping $25.0 (1
go-round), Team roping $51.00
per team (1 go-round), Cow
Milking (Calgary styles) $25.00
(1 go-round), Barrel Rade $25.50
(2 go-rounds), Novice Barrel
Race (12 and under, mixed)
$5.00, (2 go-rounds), Wild Horse
Race $30.00 (2 go-rounds), Mad
Scramble (Cow-Riding - mixed,
16 and under), 1st 16 entries,
local kids only $5.00.
Bullriding is limited to
first 24 paid entries. The Wild
Horse Race is limited to first
eight paid entries. Team Roping
enter twice, same partners once,
each team roper can enter 2
times only. A $5.00 stock fee will
be taken out. All stock will be
chute run. No setups or trade-
