PAGE 2 WARM SPRINGS, OREGON DECEMBER 22, 1976 The Warm Springs Lions Club celebrated a very special evening Saturday, December 11, at Kah-Nee-Ta Lodge. It was Charter Night for the Warm Springs Lions which represents the first Lions Club on an Indian reservation, and it was Oregon’s 200th Lions Club to be officially chartered in America’s 200th year as a nation. The Lions Club is an inter national organization with a membership of over one mil lion men from approximately 150 nations who strive together to provide unselfish service to their communities, their nat- ions and their fellow man. Last summer, a small group of men from Warm Springs met with members of the Madras Lions Club to dis cuss the possibility of a club here at Warm Springs. With their assistance and a growing interest in the organization here, the idea soon became a reality. The Prineville and Redmond Lions were also ins trumental in helping get the Warm Springs Lions Club off the ground. Warm Springs now has its own Lions Club with 32 charter members. During an impres sive ceremony on Charter Night at Kah-Nee-Ta, the new members were initiated into the organization by Murry Duley of the Park Rose Lions Club, and the installation of officers was conducted by Dick Rasmussen, Deputy District Governor. The Warm Springs Lions Club officers are: Richard Macy (President), Uren Leo nard (1st Vice President), Sid Miller (2nd Vice President), Nathan Jim (3rd Vice Pres ident), Charles Nathan (Sec retary), Francis Atkinson (Treasurer), Andy Lucas (Lion Tamer), Larry Bourland (Tail Twister), Satch Miller (1 year director), Don Maxwell (2 year director), and Elton Greeley (3 year director).
