Amos Simtustus, Chairman and Darrel Miller Committee member made the trip accord ing to Simtustus. Indian stock- ment throughout the nation are expected, to be present. It is estimated that there are over 500 members, all Indians according to Dave Greene, Executive Director of the Association. John Fredricks. Chairman of the Association from North Dakota will preside over the two day meeting. The main purpose of the meeting is to bring together many of the Indian Stockmen to discuss problems each member faces in his area, and to try to find some solution to the problems each one faces. At meetings such as this is beneficial to many as they pick up pointers and learn how to cope with similar situations experienced by others, and on methods that are suitable to over come these problems. There is another meeting scheduled to be held in Salt Lake Qty, Utah, at a later date of this year. A report on this trip should appear in the next edition. THE YEAR FOR THE POLITICIANS, while speaking with an individual on the subject of Presidential candidates reminded him of a story he had heard. Starting out by saying that one candidate at a luncheon made remarks to a comedian of his appearance by saying, “So, Your a Comedian? Tell me a joke!” “Well,” the comedian replied, “So, your the Politician. Tell me a lie.” ’ THE CROW AGENCY FAIR IN MONTANA has drawn a number of locals this year during August 18-22, 1976, for the annual Western States Indian rodeo; the Indian Pow-Wow which includes Indian dancing in every category, for the Young and Old, male and female. Stick games and other events to be announced. This annual event draws Indian people form many parts of the Country. AJ1 Indian rodeos, Pow-Wows and other related activities are becoming very popular throughout the country and the reports are that everyone that attend these functions really enjoy themselves. “BUY HAY NOW” A request to thé Spilyay Tymoo to publish this article as the hay situation will be very critical this coming year because of drought and frost damages in many parts of the country. It is predicted that hay prices will sky-rocket very soon. It was reported that California livestockmen are buying Oregon hay, so it is advisable that all local stockmen make plans to buy all the hay that will be needed for the winter months as soon as possible. For further information, call the Extension office at 553-1161, Ext. 46, if you need names and numbers of hay sellers. INTERTAINMENT BY INDIAN DANCERS at Kah-Nee-Ta on the weekends. The schedule is, as follows; on August 22, 1976, the Simnasho Longhouse committee will have a dance group there. August 29th, the-Wide Spot singers, September 1, the Head Start and Sept. 6, Lillie Heaths group. All these groups are scheduled to perform at the Village starting at 1:00 p.m. each Sunday except for the Sept. 6th, which is on Labor Day. This is very colorful and the guests really enjoy the event. COATS CONSTRUCTION CO. is fully under way on the street improvement leading to the new mobil home park south of the Hollywood area. Where once stood homes for many years in the early days are no longer in site; now one can see only heavy equipment moving ground for a new through street. At the present time the Teniqo Creek is being worked on as. large cement culverts, are being placed for an underground passage. The culverts will extend up-stream beyond the present bridge that crosses the creek enroute to the longhouse. The present bridge will be taken out and the street will be widened and also to make a four corner intersection with the Tenino- Westhills excess meeting the street that leads to Elliot heights. In addition to this, the street will be a lot wider in front of the Community Center and win also provide a bike path along the roadside. Construction of the street will proceed south to the mobile home site and the Full gospel Church. Other streets will be constructed such as one leading to the future HUD homesite and other streets for. other purposes.
