Boys to MacLaren Two of ' three youths charged with the burglary of the McDonald Candy Co. last week have been sent to MacLaren School for Boys, Coun ty juvenile authorities said Tues day. The motion to delay was made by Sen. Ohmart, who said he wanted more time to study the question. Sen. Dimick replied that this Is a deliberate attempt to kill the -bill for this session, because the Legislature is almost over." Pleads Innocent Walter Jones, 640 N. Commercial St., pleaded in nocent in Municipal Court Wednes day to a charge of assault and bat tery. Trial was set for June 14. The complaint was filed by Dicie May Bemis, resident of the same apartment house. Bitten by Dog-Mrs. Ralph Wed dle, 1865 Berry St., reported to city police Tuesday that she was attacked and bitten by a large dog while walking near her home. She suffered a wound under the left arm, officers said. The dog involved belongs to Mrs. John B. Laing, 1817 Berry St., who was notified that it must be confined, they said. North Salem Klwanians Cir cuit Judge Joseph B. Felton will speak concerning the Salem Mar riage Clinic during Thursday's luncheon meeting of the North Salem Kiwanis Club at Chuck's Steak House. 3 Picked for Judging Team Keith Wonderly, Bush School; Marlene Mallicoat, Parrish Junior High School; and Marilyn Page, North Salem High School, have been selected as the 4-H foods judging team to represent City of Salem clubs at the Oregon State Fair. Selected on the clothing judging team to go to the fair were Caro lyn Free, St. Vincent de Paul School; Nancy Ann Kenagy, South Salem High School; and Kathleen Rutherford, St. Vincent de Paul School. The committee approved a re quest of Sheriff Denver Young for an increase of three men in his staff of deputies and passed on to the balance of the crew a salary raise of $25 a month. Dr. W. J. Stone, head of the Marion County Department of Health was auhorized to make sal ary adjustments among members of his staff in accordance with the merit system that exists. The director of the juvenile de partment was given a salary boost of $1,000, while Judge Joseph B. Felton was auhorized to increase the staff by one counselor and a secretary. Meantime, he went on. expend itures for the departments which are working for world peace, such as the State Department and the International Cooperation Admin istration which administers for eign aid, ought not to be cut. Eisenhower said he is working on two talks he expects to give to the nation on television and radio. One of these will be made soon. he said, but the timing of the other has not been fixed. In one of these, presumably the first, Eisenhower said he plans to explain to the people what his budget is and what it means. He said everybody seems to be for cutting the budget for every body else s projects. Women from garden clubs in Iho.Snlem area have agreed to co operate, as much as they can, in supplying flpwers for the float and King Bing Robert M. Fischer, Jr., said they had already had some offers for donations of flowers. BANDS WILL ALTERNATE Those working on the float re ported Wallace Bonesteele had offered to donate warehouse space where work could be done on the float. South Salem High School's band will be invited to march in the parade with the float and in "suc ceeding years the North and South Salem High School bands will al ternate. Keep Oregon Green offered a donation of $200 for the float if a reminder to "Keep Oregon Green" could be Incorporated in the float.
