CI st ei l.v F In ai Hungary Turns Razor-Like Wit Against Commie Rulers MUNICH. Germany (UP)-The people of Hungary, bitter In de feat, still turn a caustic, razor sharp wit on their Communist rul ers. . Current jokes in Budapest, whis pered in sidestreet cafes and pri vate rooms, filter through the Iron Curtain to show the free world that the weapon of wit has not been blunted by Soviet armor. The size of the cabinet of Prem ier Janos Kadar, who called in Russian troops to crush the Hun garian uprising, amuses inhabi tants of Budapest. ; "Why are there only six people in the Kadar government:" one asks another. The sotto voice reply is "Be cause there's only room for six men in a tank." And the Communist claim that ''Fascists and counter-revolution-aircs" staged the uprising brings this comment: "Except for nine million counter-revolutionary landlords, factory owners, bankers, counts and card inals, the Hungarian people and peasants remained loyal to the peoples democratic regime.. ..and all six of them formed the Kadar government." Radio Free Europe here, which collects the current stories from behind the Iron Curtain has other examples: "Why is Kadar called-the Hun garian premier?" "Because Khruschcv is too diffi cult to pronounce." Red Army boss Georgia Zhukov, Soviet defense minister, came in for comment- in spurious "Adver tisement of the Zhukov company offering: "Hot and cold running war In every room, "Ventilation of your home free of charge. Butler Claims Dave Beck Was Coddled by Ike WASHINGTON un Democratic National Chairman Paul Butler says Dave Beck, president of the Teamsters Union, was long "cod dled" by the Eisenhower admin istration. Describing Beck as a "friend and confidant" of President Ei senhower, Butler said Sunday that Beck was the only union leader to have ready "entrance to the While House" during Eisenhower's tenure. , This was Butler's reply when he was asked during a television interview (ABC College News Con ference) to comment on Eisen hower's call last week for legis lation to safeguard union funds. He said it was "high time" for Eisenhower to act in the wake of the Senate rackets committee's al legations that Beck mishandled some $300,000 in Teamsters Union money. Butler said, in response to a question, that he was not suggest ing there had been any collusion between the While House and Beck, who supported Eisenhower for re-election last year. . j 18 BURN TO DEATH CAIRO, lift Eighteen persons burned to death in a fire which destroyed 329 mud and straw houses of AI Ahraz, a village eight miles north of here, Egyptian press reports said yesterday. Some stories turn up time and again with minor variatyins through the satellites. One of the latest versions of the leading Com munist who died and was sent to hell comes from Romania. He was surprised to find the de mon in charge offered him the choice of two gates to hell, one marked "Capitalists," the other. "Communists." "Which one for you?" the de mon asks. 'The Communist hell of, course, the Communist replies. 'There s bound to be a fuel short age there." Poland chuckles quietly over this exchange: My photograph appeared in the paper this morning."
