Salem, Oregon, Friday, April 5, 1957 THE CAPITAE JOURNAK Section" I Page 8 Woodburn Sets April Date for Hearing on Proposed Zone Law Jaycees and Jay-C-Ettes Install New Officers at Stay ton Measure Awaiting Final Passage Ballotin or WOODBURN (Spccial)-April 25 is the date set tentatively for a public hearing on the proposed Woodburn zoning ordinance during the City Council meeting this week. The meeting is to be held at the city hall at 7:30 p.m. and members of the Planning Commission will be present to answer questions. The proposed measure, which re ceived its first three readings March 21 and is ready for final passage, would regulate and re strict the location and use of build ings and land in the city. This would be achieved by dividing city zones and setting requirements in n each as to height and bulk of build ings, setback lines, minimum size of yards, and auto parking facili ties. Fees Established Subdivisions of land would be controlled and the measure would Valley Dates provide means of changing regula tions when necessary, establish fees and penalties, and recreate the Planning Cdmmission. Existing buildings and usages in the city would not be affected by the ordi nance. Copies of the measure and zone maps are available at the city recorder's office. In other business the council adopted a resolution requesting aid from the state for repairing and improving Cannery street from Young to the south city limits, Park Avenue from Hardcastle to the north city limits, and' Settle mier avenue from Harrison to the south city limits. The request was made from an annual fund of $230, 000 set up for the State Highway Commission to help where city streets not a part of the state high- ay system suffer excessive wear due to sudden population growth or unusual industrial traffic. Specifications Asked The City engineering firm was instructed to draw up plans, speci fications and estimates for the im provement of George, Tomlin and Blaine streets. WOODBURN The senior class of Woodburn high school will pre sent "Man Alive" a three-act mod ern day detective story by Carl Webster Pierce, tonight (Friday) at the high school gymnasium.
