.4 1 I. -a r Capital Journal, Salem, Ore., Mon., March 4, 1957 Mrs.Bcckman Dies at Home Here Sunday Mrs. Beatrice B. Bookman, VS. died at her home, 045 Norway M. Sunday after a nine months ill ness. She was born at Independence, Iowa, Aug. 22, 1907, and had been a resident of Salem for the past five years. She had previously lived in Portland, Lcwiston and Boise, Idaho, and Spokane. She was a member of the Chris tian church. Surviving are her husband, Ju lius H. Beckman. Salem; a daugh ter, Mrs. Beatrice L. O'Braun, Las Vegas, Nov.; throe sisters, Mrs. Waller Allen, Portland, Mrs. Joe Lake, Klamath Fulls and Mrs. Lillian Penny, Spokane; three brolhers, Pierre B. Wardell, Praric Citv. Paul B. Wardell, Buell, and Bex D. Wardell, La Grande, and one granddaugmcr. Funeral services are pending from the Howell-Edwards Funeral home. Death Takes Mrs. Shempp Mrs. Pearl Agnes Shempp, 49, . a resident of Salem for the past W years, died at a local hospital Mon day morning following a six months illness. Mrs. Shempp was born at Ochey dan, Iowa, Jan. 27, 1908. She re ceived her education at Fergus Falls, Minn., where she married Ernest M. Shempp, Nov. 28, l!OI. Surviving arc her husband; three sons, Marvin Shempp, Milwaukic and Lloyd and Larry Shempp. both of Salem; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Shempp, Pelican Rapids, Minn., and Mrs. Melvin Muckey, Erhard, Minn.; three brothers, Chester Ferguson, Dululh, Minn., ftobert Ferguson, San Pablo, Calif., and ' LcBoy Ferguson, Portland; a half brother, David Shcaron, Enrhard, Minn.; and a grandson. Funeral services will be held from the Virgil T. Golden chapel at 2 p.m Wednesday. Burial w be at Belcrcst cemetery. Mid Willamette Obituaries Thief Works Hard To Get Into House ButTakes Nothing A thief who entered the L. C. Davis home, 2370 Center St., went to a lot of troublo to get in, but apparently took nothing, city po lice said Saturday afternoon. A flower box was removed to allow entry through a utility room window. From there, the thief went through the garage and forced a door leading into the kitchen,, officers said. Mrs. Davis, who discovered the burglary when she returned home Saturday afternoon, said nothing appeared to be missing. . MARKET QUOTATIONS Chicago Livestock CHICAGO HI Butcher hogs and sows generally were steady to 25 cents higher Monday in fairly active trading, with shipping de mand reported fair. Three lots of 148 head of No. 1 and 2 grade 200 to 215 pound butchers brought u top of $17.50. A few mostly No. 1 and 2 sows weighing around .150 pounds sold at $l(i.O0. Salable hog receipts were 8.000 head, compared with 0,500 a week ago. Steers and heifers were slow but held steady to 50 cents higher than last week's close. The steer market mostly was steady with Wednesday's general market. Cows were moderately active and steady to 25 cents up. Other cattle classes were steady. The best steers a few loads of prime 1,150 to 1,325 pound grades brought a ton of $25.25. Receipts were ih,- 000 head. Slaughter lambs were -moder ately active and 25 to mostly 50 cents higher. Slaughter sheep were scarce and unchanged. Good to prime shorn slaughter lambs top ped at $20.50. Slaughter ewes brought $5.00 to $9.50. Salable re ceipts were 2,500 bead. Chicago Grain CHICAGO un The March wheat futures contract held firm most of the time on the Board of Trade Monday but other deliver ies moved down for losses of more than a cent at limes. Corn was mostly was firm and oats showed little change. Soy beans scored some gains after an Irregular start. Strength in Miirch wheat was duo largely to export news. How ever, Ihc new crop months dipped on selling inspired by fairly good moisture in the Southwest winter wheat bell, where it was needed badly. There are forecasts for more moisture in the area. Temple, 18, Oregon State college freshman who lost his life Friday In an auto mobile accident four miles north of Silvcrton,' will be held Tucs day at 2 p.m. from Everhart and Kent s Molalla chapel. Rev. Marvin Towell, pastor of Molalla Church of Christ of which the youth was a member, will of ficiate and burial will be in Adams cemetery. Royce Temple was born to Steele and Ruth Temple in Molalla May 25, 19.18. He had lived in South Dakota, and then in Klamath Falls. Ore., before returning to Molalla. He was graduated from Molalla high school in 1938. He was a freshman at Oregon State college coming home to spend the weekend with his mother and step father, Mr. andtMrs. Milton Raabe of Molalla. Other survivors ore his father, Steele Temple of Los Angeles, Calif.;' one sister, Elaine Temple, Molalla; a half sister, Charlcne Raabe, two half brothers, Rodney and Jimmy Raabe all of Molalla; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Cordill, Molalla: and Howard Tem ple, Modesto, Calif. Grace Jane Parsons DALLAS, (Special) Mrs. Grace Jane Parsons, 77, died Sat urday in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from Bollman's chapel. Rev. Olaf Tanning will officiate and final rites will be at Riverside cemetery, Albany. Mrs. Parsons was thorn Feb. 4, 1880 and married Charles C Par sons in 1949. He died in 1955 and Irs. Parsons moved to Dallas in 1956 from Turner where she had previously resided.
